Chapter / Episode List of the Heathville Serial

Scene 1

Most of the caged souls in the Outlands have been cured of the virus that weakened them. When their cages were opened by Sabian Blackrock on the orders of Billy Bingo, they were awake and they were well.

Their joy at being free from the cages was short lived when they learned the price that Billy Bingo had paid. At this very moment, Zeus and Hera were probably as hated as Belial and Satan. But Zeus had never been a God that cherished the sentiment that some call love. He was willing to hear the curse words tossed in his direction by those he considered foolish. It was best if the world didn’t know that Zeus and Iapedus were playing Hera like a fiddle. It was only important that the Virgin Mary should know the game being played, but he wasn’t sure if she had figured it out and did know. And he could only hope that Hera had not figured it out.

Scene 2

While Billy’s body lay lifeless on the spaceship, as men prepared to move Billy to the helicopter, the ghostly woman that had brought Frank Bingo and David Jenkins to the Bare Mansion stood over Billy. She held her hand out to Billy as his spirit rose from his body.

Billy whispered, “Amberline.”

She nodded and she took Billy’s hand and they rose high into the sky. And they took flight looking down at the magnificent landscape below. Then they entered into a colorful spiral, a whirling of air that flowed like a pipe. Billy giggled for he always liked that ride. And then they entered into the darkness that became less dark as they flew through it. And then they were back into the light and Billy could see the great pyramids below. He could see the wise men gathered around to listen to the words that flowed from the lips of the sages who were giving lectures at the pyramids.

Billy looked at Amberline and he smiled. He asked, “Are you taking me to my half-brother, Maureen’s real son who was murdered by Sabian Blackrock, thinking he was me?”

Billy and Amberline touched ground with ease and majesty. The crowds noticed. The sages noticed. The angels noticed. And Billy’s half brother stepped from outside a pyramid. His name was Samner and he greeted Billy with a handshake and then a hug. “I guess it is time,” he told Billy. “I hope I prove worthy.”

Billy knew what Samner was saying. The sages had told them this day would come. And now there they stood, a duality, where they appeared at once as both men and as boys. They turned to enter into the pyramid where they would be prepared for the ceremony.

Scene 3

Meanwhile, back in the physical world…

Billy’s body was placed in the military helicopter that had been flown in from the secret base located beneath Stone Mountain. Five men, dressed in white Togas and holding machine guns in their laps and magical swords at their sides, sat on each side of Billy.

When Mayor Hollis Bare entered the helicopter he saw the men who were there to protect the body of Billy Bingo. Hollis had not expected such “ceremonial” theater and was somewhat taken aback. Even with the miracle that he had witnessed at Whitehead and Baretown he had not fully grasped he was a part of a new history and a world that was about to change. But now he felt the coming change with butterflies in his stomach and a tremble in his hand.

Lucifer entered the helicopter. He touched Mayor Hollis Bare on his shoulder. “Are you alright? Of course you are alright. There is no reason for you to be afraid.”

Mayor Hollis Bare asked, “Has Billy fallen into the sleep. Has his physical body died.”

“You will see.”

Merlin entered the helicopter. “Back when we were children playing on the cliffs of the Isle of Wight, you spoke of this day. Do you remember?”

“It was a dream.”

“It was our boyhood. And in truth, it was a dream. It is our dream. To be free from the Space Alien Witches.”

“How can we ever be free?”

“How can we ever not be free? We have the Virgin Mary on our side. We have Billy Bingo on our side. We have Victor Duddley on our side. We have Caelous on our side. We have Iapetus on our side.”

Lucifer said, “And you have me on your side.”

Merlin grasped Lucifer’s hand inside of his hands. “And we have Lucifer on our side.”

Scene 4

Victor Duddley, that is George, sat on an airplane with Roger Ogleby, and Tabitha Angster. They were going to Hotville to make sure that Victor’s brother Stewart was okay. He had seen some kind of monster come out of the ocean and try to catch the ghost of Shane Felter. Somehow, Stewart had known that the monster was going to try to cage Shane and he had yelled to warn Shane.

The plane took off from Peachtree Dekalb Airpot and began its flight toward Hotville. As the plane was taking off George saw something he had not expected. The real Victor and Caelous appeared on the plane.

George smiled a huge smile. He announced, “Victor and Caelous are free from the cage.” George gave Tabitha a huge kiss. “I will be seeing you.”

Victor and Caelous entered the body that George now shared with them. Victor said, “I need to tell the pilot to head toward the Bare Mansion in Hearthville. That is where they are taking the body of Billy Bingo.”

Roger questioned, “Body?”

Tabitha said, “Are you sure Billy is dead?”

“He saved us. He saved Whitehead and Baretown. He sent Belial and Satan back to hell. But he has paid a price.”

Roger called his Uncle Arthur. “Victor and Caelous are free. He said that Billy Bingo sent Belial and Satan to hell but now he is dead.” Roger handed the phone to Victor.

Victor said, “Arthur, you need to call people. You need to get everyone you can to the Bare Mansion. You need to get reporters there. Something big is going to happen.”

Arthur asked, “What?”

“You will see. Just get people there.”

“Are you really Victor or is this some kind of a trap?”

“No trap. Please. Do what I am asking?”

“Get people to the Bare Mansion. Okay. I will do my best. Victor, I am glad that you are free.”

“I know. But you should know, soon, I will be living the life of a human.”

Tabitha asked, “Why?”

“To replenish my powers, to calm myself, to try to get the space alien witches to become more calm. To cause Hera to behave more calmly. We can’t expect our enemies to find their humanity if we have lost our humanity.”

Tabitha asked, “But for now?”

Victor said, “For now, I serve the Virgin Mary.”

Tabitha smiled. “As will I.”

Roger said, “I am not sure where I fit in or even if I do.”

Arthur spoke into the phone. “We do as Victor wants.”

Roger nodded. “Of course.”

Scene 5

Michelle Myers on Channel 2 News comes on the TV.

“Breaking News. Breaking News. Something big is happening in Hearthville, but we do not know what. Small planes and helicopters are flooding the skies as the Air Traffic Control System is being overwhelmed in the area. I-20 on the way to Hearthville from Atlanta and also Augusta toward Hearthville has become a parking lot. The level of traffic is unbelievable. I mean, really unbelievable. The traffic almost appears to have appeared in the area like magic.”

Don Harkling on Channel 2 News comes on the TV.

“Thank you Michelle. People have started standing on roofs to try to get a better view of the planes, helicopters, and spaceships. That is right. I said spaceships. God help us all. Folks. This may be it. Hearthville may be the center of a space alien invasion.”

There is silence on the television.

Michelle Myers comes back on the television. “Thank you Don Harkling. We are now getting reports that a young 13 year old boy, Billy Bingo, has died. We have no details on how he died or how his death is related to the flood of people heading toward Hearthville. A shaman, if you believe in such bullshit, has reported to one of our reporters that Billy Bingo was the incarnation of a god and he died in a battle to send Satan and Belial back to hell.”

There is silence on the television.

Then James Purple comes on the television. “Thank you Michelle. I am standing on the roof with Damien Wilson who swears he saw a spaceship and is terrified the space aliens may be coming to probe his butthole. Damien please put your shotgun down and stop aiming it at me. I can assure you that I have no interest in your butthole.”

Camera points toward Damien Wilson, holding his shotgun with a don’t mess with my butthole look on his face. “I don’t like your reports calling some little dead asshole a god. I am a God fearing man, no matter what the dresses in my closet might suggest, and I only believe in the one true God. And of course Jesus and the Virgin Mary and perhaps some of the Saints the Catholic Church promotes so they can sell those bobble head dolls. My former girlfriend used to collect those Saint Bobble Heads. When I caught my girlfriend cheating with my best friend Roy, I am not ashamed that I kept those Bobble Heads when I kicked her sorry ass out. I love those Bobble Heads.”

Camera points back toward reporter Damien Wilson. “So what was your first thought when you saw a spaceship in the sky?”

“My first thought was if they come to probe my butthole, like my friend Roy did when we were both drunk, I will shoot their sorry asses.”

“Did you shoot Roy?”

“No.”

“Are you still friends with Roy?”

“Well yeah. I am not going to down town Atlanta to buy weed and cocaine by myself. The last time I tried that, I had some crazy white woman come up to me and try to save my soul. God damn holy water stung just like pepper spray or Mace or whatever. Then she used a fucking baseball bat on the back of my legs to make me get down on my knees to pray. At first I thought she wanted me to suck her pussy but she straighten me out fast. So I will tell you right now, I don’t want to ever go back to Atlanta without Roy.”

“Well there you have it. A common, every day man, terrified by what he saw in the sky: a spaceship. Back to Michelle.”

Camera returns to Michelle Myers in the studio.

“We are returning to our show.”

Scene 6

Billy Bingo and his half brother Samner stood hand in hand on top of what appeared to be some kind of launch pad. A sage stood with them. The sage spoke, “You must reach the void, the blackhole, together. The two of you must touch the outer realm at the same time. And then you must dart back to here to the launch pad. As far as we know, If you get sucked into the void, your soul will no longer exist. But if you make it back to earth together, holding hands, then you two, together, when together, and agree on the spell, will be the most powerful souls on earth. But Billy, when Samner is not with you, then you will be as Hera wanted, nearly human, your memory altered, and with your powers locked. Samner, you and Billy can switch places as the two of you want. When you have taken the place of Billy, you will have your magical powers but only when you and Billy are together and in agreement will you be the most powerful soul on earth.

Billy said, “But we will never try to hurt any of the Gods, except to protect ourselves.”

Samner said, “Agreed. And please, everyone, know that even if we do not survive the blackhole, there is always hope.”

There were cheers and applause from the crowd who watched and waited. And the count down began. “One, two, …”

Mayor Hollis Bare flew his spaceship into a safe area and stopped. The spaceship hovered. He looked at Billy laying in a bed that Mayor Hollis had prepared for the unconscious Billy. Mayor Hollis called his son Daniel.

“Son, we have a problem.”

“Did you all fail to restore Whitehead and Baretown?”

“The Virgin Mary and Billy did a miracle there. It was amazing to see. But Billy revealed too much and Hera and Zeus did not respond well. They decided Billy could be as dangerous to them as he was to Belial and Satan.”

Daniel stared over at Natalina and her sister, Billy’s mother, Maureen. They were sitting quietly watching Television with Nat, Jimmy, and Tommy. Billy’s sister Bess was curled up under a lamp and reading a book. Daniel saw Tommy watching him and he eased into another room with the phone.

“What did Hera and Zeus do?”

“They locked Billy’s powers. They worked amnesia spells which Billy fought. Billy is now unconscious. He may be falling into the sleep just like Amelia. If that happens his physical body will die.” Mayor Hollis choked on his words. “Billy will be dead and his soul will be in the sleep.”

“There is no hope for us. Is there? Victor caged. Iapetus caged. And now Billy may fall into the sleep.”

“Thanks to Billy, Sabian Blackrock, was forced to free a lot of those who were caged in the Outlands. Victor and Iaptus are probably free. Belial and Satan have fled back to hell. Billy performed a miracle. Well, he and the Virgin Mary performed a miracle. Still, like I said, when Billy revealed how powerful he is, that scared Hera and then Zeus.”

Daniel said, “We’ve got to get Iapetus and Victor to Billy. Maybe they can stop Billy from falling into the sleep.”

There was knocking on the door at the Bare Mansion. Nat ran and opened the door and he saw a woman standing at the door. He saw that she was crying. Billy’s father, Frank Bingo, was standing behind the woman at the door.

Maureen walked to the door. “Frank. What are you doing here. I thought you were still in Texas.”

David Jenkins, Frank’s boss, walked up. “I don’t really know how we got here. We were on a boat in the gulf, on our way to a rig, and then suddenly we were pulling up to a dock in Lake Hearthville.”

David and Frank walked, through the ghostly apparition of the crying woman, into the mansion. Maureen hugged her husband. Nat watched the ghostly woman vanish. He looked around and figured that he was the only one who had seen her. But Tommy Harris had also seen her.

David said, “You know, I am not ignorant of the witch stuff. My wife, Amberline Darko, was a witch.”

Maureen said, “I didn’t know.”

Bess had put her book down and ran up to give her father a hug. “Dad, it is so good to see you.”

Nat turned to them. He saw them all smiling. He screamed, “Don’t you people realize something went wrong! Billy must have failed to help the Virgin Mary. He and Hollis must dead.”

Daniel spoke into the phone. “Something is going on. If I heard right some witch brought David Jenkins and Frank Bingo here. Nat has realized something is wrong. Nat thinks you and Billy are dead. What should I tell them?”

“Nothing. I am going to land the spaceship at one of my properties and then I am going to switch over to a helicopter. I will bring Billy home on the helicopter. I will call you shortly before I get ready to land.”

“Dad, is Billy dead?”

“I don’t know if his physical body has died. I just don’t know.”

Mayor Hollis and Daniel ended the call. Daniel turned and saw Tommy standing at his side. Tommy grabbed Daniel into his arms. In a nervous, tearful, voice Tommy asked, “What did he say?”

Daniel whispered. “He doesn’t know. But it is bad. Don’t tell the others yet.”

“There was ghostly woman at the door when Nat opened the door. She was crying.”

“Were you shocked when you saw the ghost?”

“No. Earlier, I wasn’t shocked when I saw the spaceship either. I know Billy is not an ordinary human.”

Tommy stepped away from hugging Daniel as Natalina walked up. Natalina asked, “What is going on?” She touched the tears on Tommy’s face. “Is your father and Billy?” Natalina struggled to maintain her composure. “Are they dead?”

“Dad’s alive. Billy and the Virgin Mary saved Whitehead and Baretown. He forced Sabian Blackrock to open the cages in the Outlands so that Victor and Iapetus would be freed.”

“Well. That is a all good. So…”

“When Hera and Zeus realized the amount of power Billy has, they reacted badly. They locked his powers and tried to screw with his memories. He fought to keep his memories. There is a danger he will fall into the sleep just like Amelia. If he does, his physical body will die. He will be dead.”

Nat rushed to his mom as she fell to her knees. He hugged on her. Nat looked up at Daniel. He whispered, “Billy’s dead?”

Tommy put his hand on Nat’s head. “There is no such thing as death. Even someday, Amelia, will wake.”

Daniel asked, “You know about Amelia?”

“I have dreams where people at the Great Pyramid tell me about her. They say she is the greatest of all the Gods.” Tommy whispered, “I don’t guess Billy will ever take me to the pyramids again.”

Nat repeated Tommy’s words, “There is no such thing as death. Even someday, Amelia, will wake.” Then Nat added, “Of course Billy will take you to the pyramids again.”

“Sometimes it is hard to believe, even when you want to believe, and know that you must believe.”

Nat nodded. “I know.”

A vision of Jesus being led up the steps, with the heavy cross on his back, appeared in the sky above the destroyed town of Whitehead and Baretown. The souls in the cages looked up toward the sky and saw Jesus with that cross on his back and the God Cage that surrounded him. They saw Satan riding on top of the cage and smoking a cigar.

The enemy soldiers saw the vision as well and saw the soul of Satan who gives orders to Belial, to Sabian Blackrock, and to them. One of the soldiers whispered, “What is this?”

It was a whisper but Billy Bingo caused the whisper to echo loud and clear. And Billy answered, “Satan could not beat Jesus that day and he will not beat Jesus this day. Understand your fate if you do not find the way of the Gods.”

Sabian Blackrock looked around. He screamed, “Where are you Billy Bingo. I have a cage all ready for you?”

Lucifer joined Leroy on the ground and began helping to unlock the cages in a very swift speed. The souls began to emerge from the cages as crosses began to come up out of the ground. The crosses were huge and rose higher and higher.

An image of Zeus appeared in the sky. He said, “Now freed souls, take the soldiers. Show them the way of the cross.”

The soldiers did not stand their ground as the souls came at them. They began to run this way and that way. Spaceships began trying to escape Whitehead and Baretown but there was no escape. The engines sputtered and the spaceships that had gained altitude began to crash.

Hera whispered to the real Zeus. “How much of this are you doing?”

“None.”

“Me either.”

Jesus whispered, “Most of this is Billy Bingo.”

Hera whispered, “He is more powerful than I thought.”

Down on the ground, the souls took a young soldier. He was a pretty boy with blond hair and blue eyes. And they stripped him down to where he had no armor and they changed the key codes to his weapons. Bare naked, he screamed in horror as he was lifted into the air. He screamed, “Don’t nail me to the cross. I know where Victor and Iapetus are caged. I can help you free them.”

Sabian Blackrock screamed, “Shut up! Shut up!”

Sabian Blackrock tried his magic but his magic pinged. There was no spell he could encant this day.

Hera whispered, “Billy is able to cause the magic of Sabian Blackrock to ping. He a threat to more than just Sabian, Belial, and Satan.”

And the souls lifted the young, blond, blue eyed, naked soldier into the air. And he saw around him the flames and the smoke vanish. Vanish! And he saw buildings that had been destroyed begin to rebuild themselves. Today was a day of miracles in Whitehead and Baretown.

The Virgin Mary appeared in the sky and in the apparition she caused Satan to run. She touched the cage around Jesus and it vanished. But still Jesus was marched toward his crucifixion.

And Jesus screamed, “Fear me you evil ones for I will be more powerful in death than I have been in life. The greater my pain, the greater my anger, the greater my wrath. I am not dying for your sins. I am dying for my revenge.”

Jesus whispered, “He changed the words from what people believe I said.”

Zeus said, “To what you actually said. You were rightfully pissed.”

And the once bright sun became dark. And the clouds were hideous like a monster getting ready to strike. In the vision men trembled in fear and in Whitehead and Baretown the soldiers trembled in fear for they knew that Jesus was near. And in the vision Lucifer appeared out of the crowd and he went to Jesus and he helped Jesus to carry the cross.

“He showed Lucifer helping me. I don’t like this.”

Then Lucifer stepped from the vision and he joined the real Lucifer down on the ground. And Lucifer went to Sabian Blackrock and he punched him with his fist. He kicked him in the balls. And he put him on the cross. And he screamed, “The realm of Hades belongs to my father and to me. This purgatory is ours. And if you ever betray us again I will send you into the fires of hell. Do you understand?”

Sabian did not know what to say. Who was more powerful? Hades or Satan? And then Sabian saw the Gods united behind Billy Bingo as they marched from the sky to the ground. The soldier began falling to their knees in prayer as if they knew the answer even if Sabian did not.

Hera whispered, “Billy Bingo is controlling us. He is marching us.”

Sabian said, “Give me my powers where they will not ping and I will open the cages. I will free Victor, Caelous, Iapetous, and the others. I can’t fight you. And I can not fight Satan. Only with Victor free do I stand a chance if I side with you.”

Billy Bingo said, “I will give you your powers but if you betray me I will send you nailed to this cross into the fires of hell where you will be caged in the fires for eternity.”

Hera whispered, “We’ve got a problem. He could do that to all of us.”

The souls lowered Sabian to the ground. And he fell to his knees. He kissed the hands of the Gods and he begged forgiveness. He then freed the souls that had been caged in the Outlands. He freed Victor and Caelous and Iapetus and many others.

When Satan and Belial realized that Victor was free, they very quickly left planet earth. And everyone praised the Virgin Mary, for without her, this day would not have happened. And the Virgin Mary praised Billy Bingo. But Hera, Zeus and Jesus/Hercules were scared of the power that Billy Bingo revealed this day.

The Virgin Mary and Hera flew their spaceship into Quad 8 which was a hidden sky fortress. From there they could view Whitehead and Baretown. The horrible destruction they witnessed through their monitors down below was heartbreaking: the destroyed buildings, the fires that continued to rage, the black billowing smoke, and hearing the caged souls screaming in agony. Though on some level they already knew, still, to witness the misery of the souls who had been caged was enough to make even the Virgin Mary swear like a sailor.

Almost even more troubling than the suffering they saw below, they also saw the enemy army that they faced. They knew the battle before them would be a hard and painful fight. Still, the Virgin Mary and Hera began dressing in their fighting gear. They coded their weapon locker for easy and quick access.

Billy Bingo and Mayor Hollis Bare flew their spaceship up next to the V-Ship. They interlocked the ships and boarded the V-Ship.

Billy smiled. “I thought my favorite bitches might need some help.”

Hera grinned. VM rolled her eyes but then nodded. VM said, “It is going to be a fight and our victory is not certain. This may be the end of me.”

Billy said, “Ah, it is going to be a breeze. You don’t have anything to worry about.” Billy added with a teasing laugh, “Nothing to worry about but that hippy son of yours.”

Hera laughed. “I love you to pieces but you are the worst liar in the world. We have everything to worry about.”

Mayor Hollis Bare said, “We need Victor. We need Iapetus.”

Billy transformed himself into an adult. In the transformation he became a very muscular adult man. And he put on his war gear. He coded his weapon locker for quick access. Billy said, “As we defeat them we have to bring them to our side. We don’t need to destroy the army down below. We need this army down below to be on our side.”

VM said, “You seriously think you can convert them.”

Though dressed in armor and ready for war, Billy said, “We’ve got to stay hidden right now but at the same we have got to start creating visions in the sky.”

Jesus and Zeus flew their spaceship on top on the V-Ship. They interlocked and came on board the V-Ship.

Zeus said, “Mary, you should have told me that you are planning something.”

Hera said, “This is my idea and I did not want you to talk us out of it.”

Jesus said, “I figured you were behind it.” Jesus looked at Billy. “What is he doing?”

Mayor Hollis Bare said, “He is setting things up to create visions in the sky. He wants to convert the soldiers to our side. And by the way, I am humbled and blessed to be in the company of such great gods.”

Jesus smiled. “You are worthy.”

Billy said, “The first vision in the sky should be Jesus on the cross. And then we need crosses coming up out of the ground. And they need to be real and not just a vision. Do you think we can manage that? I have plotted out the positioning for our magic.”

Hera looked at what Billy was talking about. She said, “Okay! Cool idea. I think I can work that. One of my favorite fantasies is watching Hercules as Jesus be crucified over and over again.”

Jesus snarled. “Yeah. Anyways.” Jesus studied what Billy had done. “I am certain that I can materialize 1,000 crosses to begin coming up out of the ground.”

Billy screamed with glee, “Oh fantastic. Sabian Blackrock is actually on the ground down there. He will be the first one I will put on the cross. He is a screamer. And he is a cry baby. He, himself, will scare the soldiers. And I will so enjoy torturing him.”

Mayor Hollis Bare stared at Billy. “Remind me not to ever piss you off.”

Billy laughed, “Let us get it going. We are going to have some fun today.”

Lucifer flew is spaceship up. He docked it at the rear of the V-Ship. He came on board. Lucifer and Zeus stared at each other like they were about to start fighting. But they didn’t fight.

Lucifer asked, “I talked to dad. He wants me to work with you all. So what is our plan.”

Billy explained and Lucifer said, “Hades could not have come up with a better plan himself. We will get them good and scared before the battle even begins”

Billy said, “Now remember. We want them to come over to our side.”

King Arthur pulled his ship up with around 1,000 men on board. He beamed himself aboard the V-Ship. “Leroy Bare called Merlin up and Merlin told me to get my ass here. I can’t believe the assholes did this Whitehead and Baretown.”

Billy asked, “Where is Leroy?”

“He is on the ground with the Wilcox Family.”

“Does he have a plan?”

“He and his Wilcox crew have begun freeing people from the cages. He saw some holes in the enemy lines where he could sneak in and he wanted to take advantage of the lapse while it still existed so he could free as many souls as possible before the battle begins.”

Billy explained what their plan was.

King Arthur nodded. “So we don’t want to cage them separately but route them into a Church Camp.”

“Right.”

“And what if it becomes obvious this group of souls are too aligned with the enemy leadership to change sides?”

King Arthur nodded. He didn’t want to show awe at being in the company of such great gods but still when he saw Zeus and Jesus and realized they were there, he fell to his knees. “Please know that I am humbled to be before you and my allegiance is always with you.”

King Arthur kissed the hands of Zeus, Jesus, and the Virgin Mary. “We will win this war.”

Zeus smiled. “Rise my good man. With your great and honorable ways, we will win this battle.”

Hera touched King Arthur on the face as he rose. They looked into each others eyes. Hera said, “How is Merlin doing?”

“He is still working on the plan, but so far, he has not gotten any results.”

“Sometimes I wonder if Amelia is really sleeping or if she has left these worlds.”

Zeus stared at Hera. He spoke. “Yeah, left this world not knowing she was leaving this world in the hands of such unworthy gods as we.”

Billy said, “Maybe if we prove that we are worthy, then she will wake and we will again be one with the greatest God of all.” Billy took a swig of his beer. “Of course in the meantime we are going to have some fun today and kick some ass and show who is boss. This will be a day that Sabian Blackrock remembers.”

Mayor Hollis Bare sat down in the pilot’s seat. Billy searched the cabinets.

“What are you looking for?” Mayor Hollis asked.

“I am wanting me some pretzels and beer.”

“You are too young to drink.”

“You would deny a dying man his last wish.”

“I don’t have any pretzels or beer on board. You will have to use your magic.”

Billy snapped his fingers and a tray appeared next to a seat with pretzels and beer. He sat down. He guzzled beer from the mug and then he chewed on a pretzel. Then he picked up a communication phone. He punched in some buttons.

“Leroy, are you there.”

“We just dived into the ocean and are on our way to the Shark plane.”

“Well. Mayor Hollis Bare and myself are on our way to Whitehead and Baretown.”

Leroy shouted into the phone. “Are you crazy? That place has a damn enemy army that is scary as hell. I just barely escaped them.”

“Here is the thing. The Virgin Mary and Hera are on their way there. They have not asked for help but you know we’ve got to help them.”

“Oh fuck. Okay.” Leroy flew his spaceship back out of the ocean.

Standing on the beach below, Stewart Duddley saw the spaceship fly out of the ocean. “Yeah, something is going on,” Stewart thought to himself.

Bachus questioned Leroy. “You are actually going back to that hell we just left.”

“The Virgin Mary is in danger. We can’t let anything happen to her.”

Mini Wilcox nodded. “Do you think she might allow us into heaven? I would so love to go to heaven.”

“We will find you a safe place but you can’t go from Hades to heaven. You have to earn the right to be born back on regular earth and from there you can earn your way to freedom.”

Professor Wilcox said, “But we want to go to heaven.”

“From heaven you can travel anywhere. You will be free. That does not mean you can’t join community of souls to do stuff together in heaven, but the important thing is freedom.”

Bachus asked, “Have you ever been to heaven?”

“A long time ago. But I returned to earth to fight in the Pluto Viso Wars. And now I am in Hades.”

Mini asked, “So we died and did go to hell?”

“No. You were already in Hades. You were born in Hades. When you died, you simply remained in Hades.”

Bachus asked, “So we were already in hell?”

“No. Hell and Hades are two different places. Maybe to better understand, Catholics sometimes call this place where we are at purgatory.”

Professor Wilcox said, “So when did we die and go to purgatory?”

“I don’t know. But in your last life on regular earth, the machine decided that you were not worthy to live another life on regular earth and should instead be born in purgatory or Hades. You may have been born to live the same life over again or live a different life. Regardless, the point is that you have to prove that you worthy to be born into a life on regular earth again.”

Bachus asked, “Why would the Virgin Mary be in Hades?”

“She came here by choice. Of that I am certain. But I don’t know the particulars of why. I mean, I could make some guesses but they would just be guesses.”

Mini said, “So guess.”

“When Belial took control of Pluto Viso, its Hades spilled over to regular Pluto Viso and then Belial took control of its heaven and the souls became prisoners with no hope of gaining freedom. Many souls became caged. It was awful. Pluto Viso became the world of the hopeless. I am sure the higher powers, which includes the Virgin Mary, do not want that to happen on planet earth. We don’t want earth to become a world without pleasure, without hope, without aspirations, without dreams.”

Bachus scratched his head. “And if we fail the Virgin Mary or she fails us, that might happen.”

“We can’t fail her. She would never willingly or wantingly fail us. She would never turn her back on us and we must never turn our back on her.”

Bachus patted Leroy on the back. “I thank God that he brought you to us.”

Zeus spoke into a microphone. “You are welcome.”

Jesus yanked the microphone from Zeus. Leroy could hear Jesus, “Get to the ship. We’ve got some fighting to do.” Then Jesus said, “Leroy, Billy Bingo has spoken with us and we are on our way. He told us to be watching for you.”

“Good. And thanks.”

Zeus said, “Leroy, I liked what you were saying.”

“Just the truth.”

Zeus said, “Amen.”

Jesus said, “Amen.”

Tommy and Jimmy Harris sneaked back behind the garage. Jimmy whispered, “We can no longer see the car and watch for when Maureen is getting ready to drive us to the Hotville Swamp.”

Tommy crawled up on on some boxes so he could see through a window. “Oh my God.”

Jimmy asked, “What?”

“There is a spaceship in there. Billy and Mayor Hollis are going into the spaceship.”

“I don’t believe you.”

“Get up here and see for yourself.”

With some difficulty Jimmy crawled up on the boxes. He saw what Tommy was talking about. “Unreal.”

Tommy jumped down from the boxes and help Jimmy down. “We need to get back to the car and pretend that we did not see anything.”

They took off running back to the car. They reached the car just as Maureen and Bess came out of the mansion.

Maureen walked down to them and said, “The trip to the Hotville Swamp has been called off. I’ve spoken to your parents and let them know that you two would be at the mansion here in Hearthville tonight. A chauffeur will drive the two of you back to Conyers in the morning.”

Jimmy asked, “Where is Billy?”

“He and Mayor Hollis Bare had to go somewhere.”

Jimmy was about to ask more questions but Tommy stopped him. Tommy said, “Okay.”

Bess opened the boot of the car and Tommy walked around to help with the luggage. Tommy asked, “Are you worried about Billy?”

Bess said, “Just to be clear, you and I are not going to become friends. Your sister treats me like white trash and that is exactly the way I think of you two. I don’t know why my mom puts up with you and your brother being Billy’s friend. “

Tommy nodded. “Yeah, and I don’t know why your mom didn’t leave you someone’s doorstep when you were a baby.”

“Maybe I was left on her doorstep. I sure as hell don’t belong in this family.”

Maureen walked around. “Bess, I will also send you back to Conyers tomorrow.”

“To be by myself.”

“You seem to prefer it that way. But of course you will always have your bitchy attitude to keep you company.”

“You heard what I was saying?”

“I heard and I am tired of it. I wish someone had left you on my doorstep and saved me from that ten hours of hard labor just for me to have a baby that doesn’t love me.”

“Mom! I love you.” Bess forgot that Tommy was standing there and listening. “But do you know what it is like to have a brother that can actually call Jesus on the phone. I mean for real. Not some imaginary schizoid bullshit. But for real. He can talk to Jesus.”

Maureen screamed, “Bess. Stop saying stuff like that. Of course Billy can’t talk to Jesus. She is always joking like that about her brother.”

Tommy said, “I understand. So where is the spaceship going to take Billy and Mayor Hollis?”

Bess said, “Yeah, that is as silly as me saying that Billy can talk to Jesus.”

Jimmy walked around. “We saw the spaceship in the garage and Billy and Mayor Hollis Bare entering it.”

Maureen said, “It is complicated.”

Tommy said, “I can imagine. Complicated. And it is not like if you explain it to me, my memory will not become erased.”

Bess nodded. “That has been happening to you also. I wonder how many times my memory has been erased.”

Tommy nodded. “I can remember bits in dreams, but I can never remember the full events that have been erased. It is scary.”

Bess said, “Very.”

Maureen agreed. “Very.”

Tommy and Jimmy Harris had not gone into the Bare Mansion with Maureen and Bess. They had waited at the car that was parked in the circular driveway, in font of the long colum porch, steps, and walkway.

While waiting Tommy got out of the car. Jimmy followed his older brother. Tommy pulled out a cigarette from the package in his shirt pocket. He pulled a book of matches from his pants pocket and struck a match. He lit the cigarette and shook the match out as he eased the book of matches back into his pants pocket. He took a deep drag on the cigarette. Jimmy watched his brother.

Tommy asked, “What is keeping them?”

Jimmy shrugged.  “I don’t know. How would you like to live in a mansion like this.”

“I wouldn’t. I don’t want to be a slave to money or what it can buy.”

“So what. You would like to just be a hobo riding the rails.”

“You watch too many old movies, but if that were still a thing yeah. I’d have my nap sack on a stick and everything.”

“Well you know, being poor and homeless and dying frozen under a bridge is still a thing.”

Tommy pointed to some people walking down the driveway. “Yeah, those four don’t look like they will ever have to worry about that. They are dripping wealth.”

The older woman, Myrtle Claven stopped at the car. She took Tommy’s cigarette. He thought she was going to stomp in out in a fit of anger. Instead she started smoking it. “Times like these were a horrible time for me to try to stop smoking.”

Her son, Kane Bishop, smiled. He winked at Tommy. Tommy shrugged and gave an expression like he had missed the joke, if there was one.

Myrtle’s daughter, Linda Webster, looked at Tommy and Jimmy. “Are you two friends with Nat?”

“We are friends with the Bingo family. We are going on a nature hike through the Hotville swamp.”

Linda’s son, Steve Webster who was around Billy and Jimmy’s age said, “I hear there is a demon lose in that swamp that took over the dead body of Bachus Wilcox.”

Kane Bishop laughed. “A cannibal demon that will eat your flesh. That is the story I heard.”

Myrtle shook her head and rolled her eyes. “Stop trying to scare the boys. I am sure the demon has already transformed and has rented an over priced condo somewhere. Say Linda, how would you like to have that decorating job.”

Linda shyly smiled. “At least it would be a job. I haven’t been getting too many lately.”

Kane looked at Tommy. “So who the hell is the Bingo family and who the hell are you?”

Jimmy reached out his hand. “I am Jimmy Harris and this is my brother Tommy. Billy is a cousin to Nat.”

Myrtle’s mouth fell open. She dropped the cigarette but Tommy caught it. He quickly started smoking on it.

Myrtle said, “Oh my, I am not presentable. I am totally not dressed good enough to meet a God. We need to go.”

Jimmy lowered his hand as he questioned, “God?”

The four of them quickly turned and started back walking down the driveway. Jimmy and Tommy saw them fade and become invisible.

Jimmy asked, “How did they vanish?”

Tommy laughed. “Weird shit is always happening when Billy Bingo is involved. And I only remember part of it through dreams. And you never remember any of it.”

Jimmy asked, “Do you believe what they said about a demon taking over the body of Bachus?”

Tommy shook his head. “I don’t know. Did you know Bachus?”

“He was at the Bingo home one day. I think he was friends with Bess.”

“Well then I am sure I would have hated him because I totally hate Bess. How could Billy have such a God awful sister?”

“She is not so bad,”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. We have got a problem. VM and Hera are on their way to Whitehead and Baretown that was destroyed. That area is now under the control of Belial and Satan. They could be in danger. We don’t need another two Gods caged.”

Billy Bingo and Nat Wilkins sat in Nat’s bedroom. Today they were going to go on a nature hike through the Hotville Swamp. Or at least that is what they had planned to do. Natalina, Nat’s mom, had agreed to take them. Daniel Bare had planned to take them but he was investigating the boat explosion that killed Professor Wilcox, Bachus Wilcox, and Mini Wilcox.

Billy’s mom Maureen and his sister Bess were coming down from Conyers to go with them. They were bringing Tommy Harris and his brother Jimmy who was more the age of Billy and Nat. Tommy was more the age of Bess although they did not like one another.

Billy looked in the mirror. “I want this to be a fun trip and yet I feel something is wrong. I think I need to go to my command center and check on some stuff.” Billy picked up a bat and baseball. He threw the ball into the air and then he hit the ball toward the glass french doors. When the ball hit the doors, the magical, metaphysical room, the room he called his command center, appeared beyond the french doors. Billy opened the doors and entered the room. Nat followed.

Billy said, “Now Nat, if you ever need to open the room when I am not here, you have to hit that particular ball and use that particular bat for the room to appear beyond the french doors.”

“Okay.”

Billy and Nat examined the monitors. Then suddenly Billy saw something that alarmed him. “Oh, fucking, shit, hell.”

Billy heard his mom’s voice. “What have I told you about cussing?”

“Not to let you hear me cussing but I didn’t know you were here.”

Natalina was with Maureen and Bess. Natalina said, “This is what I was telling you about. He is growing more powerful.”

“It is amazing.”

Bess whispers, “Billy scares me.”

Billy said, “We have got a huge problem. Where is Mayor Hollis?”

Mayor Hollis appeared out of no where. “What is wrong Billy?”

“VM’s spaceship is heading toward Whitehead and Baretown.”

Maureen asked, “Who is VM?”

Hollis ran to the monitor. “Are you sure that is the Virgin Mary’s spaceship?”

“Yeah. And it looks like Hera is on the ship with her. This is not good. I know she and Hera are powerful and all but she does not have backup. And what if Belial is there. He could cage them. We can’t let this happen.”

Bess looked up toward the ceiling. “My brother knows the Virgin Mary? How could I have him for a brother?”

Nat asked, “What are we going to do?”

Hollis said, “If we go to try to help her, we could all end up caged.”

Billy screamed, “We can’t not help her. That would not be acceptable. We have to help the Virgin Mary.”

Billy turned on communications to Olympus. “Yo, Jesus, you hippy bum, pick up your god damned phone. And get Zeus there with you.”

Bess said, “I am pretty sure if I called Jesus a hippy bum, I would go to hell.”

Mayor Hollis stared at Billy. “What if they get caged. You may have just put Olympus and Heaven in danger.”

“Yeah. Whatever. I need your spaceship. If there is a fight. I need to be part of it.”

Maureen said, “No. Billy.”

“I have no choice.”

Hollis said, “I will go with you.”

“Good. Good. Let us get to the spaceship. We don’t have time to waste.”

Maureen stepped into the metaphysical room. Bess followed. She looked at one of the large, flat screen monitors. “What do all those flashing markings represent. Why are there names with those markers.”

Bess asked, “Is this a map of a cemetery.”

Billy said, “This is a map inside of Whitehead and Baretown. The markings are of all the souls who have been caged there.”

Bess asked, “What do you mean caged?”

Billy said, “Souls can’t die but they can be caged. And when caged they sometimes fall into a sleep that is almost like death.”

Maureen pointed, “Barry Whitehead has been caged?”

Billy said, “Yeah. It looks that way.”

Maureen looked at Nat and then she looked at Natalina. Maureen knew that in Barry’s most recent life he was the half-brother of Nat. The father of both Nat and Barry was Johnathan Whitehead who Natalina had dated for a period of time. Maureen said, “If there is any way you can free him, then you need to free him.” Maureen whispered in Billy’s ear, “He is Nat’s half-brother.”
