Hearthville Serial: Book 7 Episode 31c

Excerpt:

Victor says, “We can not risk spreading the sleeping sickness. Artorious suggested we try to backward engineer the spell that Sabian Blackrock uses on his spaceships that allows them to enter and exit the Outlands, and bypass the locks.”

Iapetus asks, “And how do we do that?”

Arterious shakes his head. “I do not have a clue.”

Donny Maxtone enters the compound. “I’ve managed to borrow a spaceship. I want to be part of this mission.”

Victor stands up. He pats Donny on the back. “The mission will not work. We need to figure out the magic Sabian Blackrock was using when he first put his smuggling operation into place.”

Chapter / Episode List of the Heathville Serial

Victor and General Rufus plot their attack on the OilBarronzz9 Spaceship. Their goal is to steal communication equipment from the spaceship so that they might communicate with people beyond the Outlands. Victor is hoping there is someone in the physical world that can help cure the “Sleeping Sickness” in the metaphysical world.

Madison Grant and Artorious Ramsey sit in on the strategy meeting.

Madison says, “Okay, you are planning 20 small spaceships flown by 20 trained fighters to penetrate the OilBarronzz9. You’ve located how to disconnect and steal the communication equipment. General Rufus, I have respect for you. I know how much Iapetus respects you. But I don’t think your plan is going to work. My mom hates Sabian Blackrock. When she goes after one of his Spaceship Tankers she never goes at it with fewer than 5,000 spaceships.”

General Rufus screams, “Do you think I would not want 5,000 attack ships for this mission. Too many of our people are sick. They are falling into the sleep.”

Victor says, “We originally were just talking about using 10 men with their spaceships.”

Artorious said, “How do Sabian’s ship go in and out of the Outlands when we can’t? What is the magic spell that is being used? And is there a way we can put that spell on some of our communication equipment? If we can, we need to avoid this risky mission that is being talked about here.”

Victor nodded. “I don’t know the spell. I’ve been trying to think back to the OilVictorbb41 Spaceship that I stole when I was ten.”

“Wait. What?” Madison scratches her head. “You stole one of these ships, one of Sabian Blackrock’s ships, when you were ten? What? Had you found it abandoned or crippled or something?”

“No there was a crew on board. I made them get off.”

Artorious stares at Victor. “Your father was working for Quentin Darko then, wasn’t he. Did Quentin provide you with an army?”

“No. When I was ten I liked Quentin’s sister Amberline Darko but I hated Quentin and he hated me. I wanted my father to stop working for him.”

General Rufus asks, “Why did you hate him?”

“He was putting my family’s life at risk and for nothing. He wasn’t beating the Space Alien witches. He was just playing big shot. ‘Look how smart I am. Look what I have accomplished.’ And he wasn’t accomplishing shit. He almost got his own sister Amberline killed.”

Iapetus walks into the compound. “So. Are you all ready for the mission?”

General Rufus says, “The plan is not going to work. Madison is right. I am afraid I was engaging myself in a bit of wishful thinking.”

Iapetus asks, “So what are going to do? We have to find a way to communicate with the outside world. We have to get a cure to the sleeping sickness. And then we have to figure out how to break the locks that have been put on the Outlands.”

Captain Crayon enters the compound. Iapetus stares at him. They have not always on good terms but they do sometimes work together. “Donny and I know one another from the Pluto Viso Wars. He told me that you are trying to figure out how to communicate with the physical world. I sometimes do salvage work. I have some communication equipment from one of Sabian’s tankers but I have never been able to get the equipment to work. If you want the equipment, it is free.”

Victor says, “It may be just what I need to try to backward engineer the spell that Sabian uses.”

Captain Crayon scratches his head. “A spell. A spell? I never considered there was a spell on the equipment. My God! I can be such an idiot.”

Iapetus patted him on the back. “No arguments from me.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. You asshole.”

Iapetus laughs.
