This story takes place before Billy Bingo: The Forgotten Past and before Billy Bingo: When The Legman Comes & the rewrite may change dependent plot points.
This story is fiction.
Reminder: In this, a dog cage is a cage, a robot, that looks like a dog that holds Phil prisoner. The reference is not to a dog in a cage but a cage that looks like a dog; and that can hold a soul prisoner. This Chapter takes place in a realm that the Legman has created in the Outlands that is similar to his original Iapetus but it is not the primary Iapetus. The Legman sometimes calls this lesser realm Iapetus Jr..
Chapter 7
Phil Clyde sits at the computer inside his robot dog cage while the robot dog chases his tail in a game of round and round. “If this is true, why on earth would the Legman reveal this to me.”
The Legman appears in the cage. He sits down next to Phil at the computer. The Legman asks, “Do you understand it?”
“We are all fucking prisoners. If we escape from one prison we are just in another prison because they do not want us building new systems.”
“It is a little more complicated than that but basically, yeah. Of course think about it. How many people have you met that you would want building systems and playing God?”
“True. I guess. But the earth I came from is Lucifer’s earth and not God’s earth? Really?”
“On God’s earth you can’t live the same life more than once. On Lucifer’s Earth you can live the same life over and over again if you ever lived it once on God’s earth. You can change time in this world. You can’t change time in God’s world.”
“Can we ever return to God’s world?”
“Sure. Purgatory or Hades is not hell. Lucifer is not Satan. Lucifer is still at times invited to dine in Heaven at the table of God and the lesser gods and the angels. Satan of course, is not. Lucifer wants to measure up and be compared to God. Lucifer might be jealous of God but he does not hate him. Satan hates God and isn’t too crazy about Lucifer. Lucifer and Satan don’t exactly get along, but on some level Lucifer and Satan do have an understanding.”
“What about you? Where do you fit in with God and Lucifer and Satan?”
“Iapetus is my realm. I will restore it on my own. I will not ask God for help. I will certainly not ask Lucifer or Satan for help. To where I fit in with them, I am not sure that I do.”
“So Lucifer is not the only one separated from God because of pride.”
“God is a goodly entity. Know that. And he will help people. Know that. But he does not like weakness. He is forgiving of weakness but he does not like it. And I do have weaknesses. There is a reason I was embarrassed and made ruin when I was born as … well, never mind.”
“Is it just because I am the husband of Alice Malokey that you have taken an interest in me? Or is there some other reason?”
“If you are asking if I have known you in the past, the answer is that I have.”
“Were we friends or enemies? Who was I?”
The Legman laughs. “You have a higher self. You are a spawn.”
“Am I your spawn?”
“No.”
“Who?”
“I am not going to answer that.”
“So. What now?”
“It is time I send you back to become the dog of Billy Bingo and for you to work to protect him. Now, the dog cage can morph to appear as any dog that you would like. But to become Billy Bingo’s dog it is necessary that the cage become a type of dog that Billy would like.”
“And what kind of dog is that?”
“A French Poodle.”
“Are you fucking kidding me. I am going to be a prissy froufrou dog?”
“The poodle is a good breed of dog.”
“If you say so. It is not like I have a choice.”
“But now when you aren’t with Billy and you need to morph the dog cage, you can do so.”
“So when I need to become a Pit Bull, I can.”
“Exactly.”
Suddenly, there are sirens. There is a loud buzzing sound. A whistle also. And then the sound of explosions. The smell of smoke stinks as the smoke rises into the air as a fog. The quick rattle and bang, bang, bang of machine guns sound as if from the haunting of a war.
Phil asks, “What is happening?”
The Legman answers, “The Soul Suckers are striking these outer areas of my realm once again. They feed off the fear of the poor, confused souls that come to me for help. And they try to cage as many as they can. They are a vile group in alliance with Satan.”
The Legman causes a sword to appear out of no where. He hands the sword to Phil. “They can enter and leave cages. This cage is not a barrier to them. But the sword will cut and bleed energy from them. They will always attempt to escape the loss of energy.” The Legman vanishes.
Phil moans. “Fuck. Why in the hell did I follow after the Legman?”
Phil looks through the eyes of the dog cage. He pushes the button to become one with the cage. He sees a woman partially hidden in the bushes. Two Soul Suckers are beating the bushes and approaching the woman. They see her. They know she sees them as they taste and suck up her fear. Then one of them causes a cage to appear. It is a cage built for torture and to torment and to create as much fear as possible.
The dog Phil jumps toward the woman and licks her face. He bites into her skirt and he pulls her. He hopes his screams will not turn into barks because he wants to communicate with her. He screams. “Run. Run. Do not let them put you in the torture cage. It will be hell.”
The woman runs. One of the Soul Suckers starts to chase after her but the dog Phil pushes him back. He growls and bites at the Soul Sucker. Suddenly the Soul Sucker is inside of the dog cage with Phil. Phil has to pull away from controlling the dog. He is no longer one with the dog. He must face the Soul Sucker inside of the cage. He grabs the sword that the Legman has given him. He swings at the Soul Sucker but he misses. The Soul Sucker grabs Phil by the neck. He licks Phil in the face as Phil had done with the woman to break her from the trance of fear. The Soul Sucker is disappointed that he does not taste fear for Phil is not afraid.
Phil punches the Soul Sucker in the face and then positions the sword to stab the Soul Sucker in the gut. He strikes the sword hard into the stomach of the Soul Sucker. Energy bleeds from the Soul Sucker and the Soul Sucker quickly exits the cage. The other Soul Sucker that had not entered the cage has the dog cage in his hands. He is banging the cage against a tree.
Phil again becomes one with the dog. He bites at the Soul Sucker who notices that his friend is bleeding energy. The healthy Soul Sucker is about to enter the cage when the Legman appears and cuts the Soul Sucker’s head off. The Soul Sucker grabs up his own head and darts for the spaceship that they had arrived in. The other Soul Sucker follows after him, racing for the spaceship.
The Legman watches as twelve of the Soul Sucker Space Ships take off. The attack is over. No souls have been lost from the Legman’s realm.
The Legman enters the dog cage. “You did good. We saw you rescue the woman. A soul quickly got to her and took her to a safe place.”
“Good.”
“I am going to change my plans a bit. You keep the dog cage and it is up to you to whether you want to use the cage to protect Billy Bingo or not. But you are free from it. You can leave and enter it as you want.”
“You know, I am a hunter. I can’t turn down assignments. And if I vanish too often from my wife where she has no idea where I am, that will not be good. You need someone else to protect Billy because I have a conflict.”
“I want you on my side. I want you to understand what I am doing here. I want you to help Alice Malokey, your wife, to understand what I am doing here.”
“Your protecting General Gorgan is a problem. He is too allied with Belial on Pluto Viso.”
“He is not. He came here as a refugee.”
“We can’t trust that. Too many witches are terrified that Belial will do to earth what was done to Pluto Viso.”
“But it wasn’t. God’s Pluto Viso is still in place. The witches escaped a realm that was always Belials. They escaped Belial’s Hades to come to Lucifer’s Hades.”
“Alice and the others will never believe that. I am not sure I believe you.”
“Alice Malokey and her family knows the truth. They fully understand how the digital worlds are connected.”
“Well, if that is Lucifer’s Earth how can people go to the God Complex from there?”
“They can go to the God Complex from Lucifer’s Earth in the same way they can go to the God Complex from God’s Earth.”
“But I’ve been told that on Pluto Viso, God’s Complex has been devastated. Pluto Viso’s heaven is in a state of ruin.”
“No. There is only one true heaven, though there are fake heavens. There is only One God Complex in all the universes. But Lucifer and Belial both like to pretend that they have the power to conquer the true heaven itself. It can’t be done. But now there are reasons that Lucifer and Belial want those that are no longer on God’s Earth for various reasons to believe that even heaven itself can be lost to the forces of rebellion and counter rebellion. There is the real heaven and then there are the fake heavens.”
“So how do we know the real from fake even as our memories are fucked with and we can’t even remember our own origins. How can I even know that you are real or much more, what you are saying is real.”
“Just know that the loving God is real. Know that you can always trust in that. To know the difference between God and the fake ones, just know that God is always loving. God will not spew the preachings of hell, fire, and damnation. God does not condemn. He will protect and to protect, sometimes that does mean sending some souls away from other souls. It is not to condemn. It is to protect. And sometimes to protect means trying to help a soul to grow stronger through tough love. But God does not condemn. God loves. If you listen closely you will always know when the forces of God are about and when the forces of the fake are about.”
“Are you a force for God?”
“I am not perfect. There is weakness in me. There is sin in me. I am not always loving. I hold grudges. Do I try to be better than Belial and Lucifer? Yes. But sometimes I am no better than they are. That is my awful truth.”
“But you want to help the humans of earth?”
“And the witches of earth. I want to help. But I am not without confusion and from that confusion; weakness. I can’t find a way to even open my own realm, the true Iapetus, back to my control.”
“I can not swear alliance to you. I can only say that I see your side and trust your honesty.”
“That is enough for me to see your side and trust your honesty.”
“May I ask you about something?”
“Sure.”
“You say that God is not about hell, fire, and damnation but that is in the bible.”
“You speak of the bible in Lucifer’s Earth; not God’s Earth. God does not condemn. He separates for protection. Lucifer condemns. Lucifer promises hell, fire, and damnation to those who fall from Hades into Hell.”
“But if God doesn’t protect the people on Lucifer’s Earth, isn’t it the same as if he condemned us.”
“God wants to protect us but he also wants to make us stronger.”
“But if he would allow us to fall even into the bowels of hell, then that is God condemning us.”
“There is no soul who can’t lift themselves up even from the bowels of hell. When we are condemned it is our own actions that condemn us. It is our own thoughts. It is our own fears. God does not condemn us.”
“But nature destroys with storms and earthquakes and disease and such. We don’t bring that on ourselves.”
“Nature is about trying to maintain balance. Nature is about protecting earth from an imbalance. The flesh might be hurt but the soul is not hurt.”
