Chapter 9

As the Legman and George began to search the car trunks for Paulstir McCluskey they didn’t notice what was happening in the boot of the car where they had found the coloring book type drawing of themselves. They didn’t see how the paper had begun to uncrumple itself. They didn’t see the witch standing at the boot of the car.

The witch, Alexandra McClure was a beautiful woman. And she knew how to dress to the nine to make her assets even more seductive. She wore a tight white sweater and a black miniskirt. Her black bra showed through the white sweater. And she wore knee high red boots. She was a sexy thing.

There was a time she was a witch hunter for the Witches Council but she didn’t like their rules. So she became a free lance bounty hunter and an assassin. She knew Dioson from her days working for the Witches Council. She had been there in New York when Dioson and Hannibal Claws had murdered Donny Maxtone.

Alexandra watched Victor there with the Legman as they looked for Paulstir. She wasn’t sure why Dioson had Paulstir. She had no idea what it was about. She only knew that his mysterious and secretive boss had sent her twenty ounces of gold to help Dioson. She had no idea who the boss was. She really didn’t care. Even in the witch world money is money that separates the rich from the poor. She was not the kind who liked being poor.

Alexandra had no idea who the Legman was but she had seen him fly Victor down to the junkyard. That told her that she had to be careful when killing Victor and the Legman. She knew she would be powerful enough to kill Victor and cage Victor’s soul but she wasn’t sure about the Legman.

Alexandra levitated the coloring book page from the boot and she caused it to grow larger. The page was not an ordinary piece of paper. It was the portal to the cage where she hoped to trap the souls of Victor and the Legman.

The Legman turned and looked at Alexandra. He nodded with a hint of recognition in his eyes. He nudged Victor. He told Victor, “We have a problem. She is creating a portal to a cage. She is planning on killing us and then trapping our souls to be someone’s bitches in a bottle.”

George said, “Damn. She is pretty. Maybe I would not mind being dominated by her.” George cleared his throat. “Well. For one night anyway.”

The Legman said, “She is deadly. You should be scared. You should not be making jokes.”

An image flashed in George’s mind. The mental image blinding George from the seeing the moment at hand was of Victor chained to a bed. Naked. A woman was standing over Victor. At first, in George’s mind she was blurry. But as the image came into focus George saw that the woman standing over Victor was the same woman standing all so sexy there at the car. George was not clear on everything that had happened to Victor. He wasn’t sure if the image in his head was a memory or a figment of his imagination or maybe even a premonition.

The Legman saw that Victor was lost in thought or perhaps even despite his joking, he was frozen with fear. The Legman was not sure which, but the vacant look on Victor’s face was clear. The Legman knew he needed snap Victor out of it. The Legman shouted, “Did you hear me. She is dangerous.”

George emerged back from whatever was going on his head. George said, “Yeah. Dangerous. Aren’t they all.”

The Legman smiled at Victor’s comment and the horny expression on Victor’s face. “Keep your dick down and your head up. If my spell does not work correctly we could have some major fighting to do.”

George looked at the gun in his hand that was loaded with magic bullets. “Why don’t we just shoot her?”

“Well we might miss and she probably is packing her own heat. Plus, I don’t really want her dead.”

The Legman called out to Alexandra by name. “Alexandra, you have no idea with whom you are fixing to tangle.”

Before Alexandra knew what had happened she had been transformed into a bird and was in a cage that the Legman now held. The coloring book page vanished as did her cage.

The Legman teased at her, the bird in the cage. “Such a pretty little bird. And I love those little red boots.”

Looking down at the boots, Alexandra the bird, began trying to stay on her perch. She flapped her wings. Alexandra begged. “Please don’t do this to me.”

“You were going to kill us. You were going to put our souls in a cage. That kind of pisses me off.”

“Please let me out of here. I now know that I am no match for you.”

The Legman asked, “For whom are you working.”

“You knew my name. You know who I am. You tell me. I don’t know shit.”

The Legman looked at Victor. “She doesn’t know who hired her and neither do I.”

George asked, “How did you know who she is?”

“We’ve met in past lives. I kind of like her. I’ve watched her from my realm in the outlands. She is very dangerous but also entertaining. Her life is good porn.”

Alexandra said, “You have a realm? You have your memory of past lives? You’ve watched me because you knew me?”

The Legman opened the cage door. She flew out and landed on the Legman’s shoulder. Then she flew into the air as the Legman transformed her back into herself. He said, “You must behave.”

Alexandra said, “I will behave.”

George asked, “Is Paulstir still in the van?”

“He is and he was still alive. I don’t know about now. I don’t know what this is about. I was paid by an anonymous person to help Dioson to deal with you two. I had no idea how dangerous this job might be.”

George asked, “Were you involved with Dioson and Hannibal in New York?”

“I was. I worked for the Witches Council back then.”

George didn’t remember her at first. He didn’t clearly remember a lot of things from New York. Victor had been a mess. Donny had done his best to take care of Victor and Donny had paid the ultimate price for his good deed.

George said, “I kind of remember you but not clearly. I remembered Dioson and Hannibal though.”

Alexandra said, “If you don’t clearly remember me, I doubt you clearly remember everything about them as well.”

“Probably not. I am messed up. I am broken.”

Alexandra touched Victor’s face with a hint of remorse and perhaps affection. She said, “I wish to God I had not taken this job.” She dropped her hand from his face and looked away.

The Legman asked, “So why did you?”

“The pay was good. You’ve watched me. You know how much I love money. The person paid me in gold.”

George said, “Maybe you took the job for the pay. Or maybe you thought now is the time to finish a job from the past. Maybe you want me dead. Maybe you thought it would be fun to be the one who kills me.”

The Legman added, “Not just kill, but cage you. Maybe she is afraid of you.”

“If I was afraid of Victor Duddley, would I be here?”

The Legman said, “I don’t know.”

Alexandra asked, “Did I know Victor in a past life?”

“Maybe I don’t know or maybe I just don’t want to tell you.”

Alexandra smiled. “I don’t remember my past lives but I think I did know Victor. The first time I saw him I felt such things I’d never felt. And there were things that flashed in my mind that I still don’t understand.”

“You wanted me dead.”

“The Witches Council wanted you dead because you were dead and you were brought back to life. They don’t allow that.”

The Legman said, “You can mark a soul with that kind of magic; the magic that brings someone back to life. It can cause gateways to be closed to a soul such as the gateway to heaven. Sometimes it can even make you a slave to those who brought you back. Of course the time travel would have undone all that.”

Alexandra questioned, “Did it? Did the time travel really save Victor from the demonic possession?”

The Legman asked, “Was there demonic possession?”

Alexandra said, “I don’t know. Do you?” Then Alexandra paused. She thought a moment. “Maybe you are a demon.”

The Legman smiled a devilish smile. “Maybe I am.”

The Legman touched Alexandra’s arm. He kissed her on the cheek. “If you are killed by the person who hired you for not doing your job, you will be welcome in my realm.”

“How will I find you?”

“I will have people find you.” The Legman snapped his fingers to send Alexandra back to her home. After she was gone the Legman said, “I like her. God help me! I like her.”

George nodded. “I am not sure about her. When she touched me, was that touch a lie? Was her look of remorse a lie? I could not tell for sure.”

“I think she is afraid of you but I am not sure why? But understand, that fear does not mean she does not have feelings for you. Those feelings may be what makes her afraid of you.”

“I doubt I am her kryptonite.”

“She had her chance to fight me. Her surrender to my spell was all too easy. I am not so sure she could not have broken the spell on her own. Yes. I think maybe you are her kryptonite.”

George asked, “So what now?”

“My spaceship should be arriving.” Just as the Legman said that, there was a beeping sound. He laughed. “Baby, just right on time.”

The Legman used magic to beam himself and Victor aboard his spaceship with a crew of twenty. George looked about. George said, “Cool spaceship.”

A woman walked up. “Legman, there is a 75% chance that Paulstir is still in the red van. That said, we can not beam him out of the van. We can and are ready to transport the red van to your realm in the outlands. We will put the van in a holding cell; holding cell number 9.”

“Very good. If Dioson’s magic is turned back to full force, cell number 9 should be able to withstand it.”

The woman said, “I hate to mention it but you need to put your spawn Billy back into the helicopter to be with his aunt.”

The Legman nodded. “Yes. And I guess Victor as well.”

George said, “No. I want to stay part of this. I want to hear what Dioson has to say.”

The Legman said, “Sure. I see no problem with that.”

George was amazed when he saw Billy and the Legman separate. He stared at both of them.

George said, “You and Billy are not the same person?”

“Billy is my spawn. We can act as one or we can separate. Before Billy had time to say anything, the Legman zapped Billy to the chamber to ready him to be transported back to the helicopter.

The Legman said, “Now your body and soul will separate when the spaceship flies back to the outlands. The separation will be temporary. I will send your body to the chamber to be sent back to the helicopter when the separation happens. I will have Billy explain that you are not dead or dying but are astral projecting.”
