Chapter 10
Dioson glanced into the back of the van to look at Paulstir McCluskey. Dioson screamed, “Just give me the fucking codes for the Hearthville Hospital.”
“I don’t know the codes. Besides, just use your fucking magic to hack into the system, you worthless piece of witch.”
“I can’t and you know I can’t. And do not keep lying to me. You do know how to access the codes.”
“I do not. I am an accountant. I am not a tech expert. And I have nothing to do with that freaking hospital.”
“You told Rachel how to access Steed’s accounts when he was involved with the hospital.”
“That was his personal account. It was not his business, job related account at Loving Care For All Inc.” Paulstir McCluskey thought a second. “And how do you know what I told Rachel.”
“Just you never mind. I know all sorts of shit, so stop lying to me.” Dioson pulled down a monitor where he could look at the helicopter that was following him but then he saw there was more than just a helicopter in pursuit. “Son of a bitch. Now there is not just a helicopter following me but there is a spaceship trying to zero in on me.”
Dioson pushed a button to call Madison. “Madison. I need your fucking help. There is now more than a helicopter following me. There is a damn spaceship. If you ever want to stand a chance of breaking your father out of that dungeon on Malokey, you better damn well help me.”
“Tell me who hired you.”
Dioson broke the connection.

Leroy Bare sat at a table in the Purple Bird Billiard Club.
Leroy Bare was around 19. He was the cousin of Daniel, Lilly, and Johnny Bare. Leroy’s mother was Constance Seljay Bare. His father was Henry Bare. They lived on the fifty acres of the Bare Estate that was all they had left after they had sold most of the land they inherited to Hollis Bare. It cornered between the land owned by Johnny and Lilly and the Ramsey family.
Henry’s father was Adolph Bare who was good friends with Artorius Ramsey. Adolph, Artoriusuus, Johnny Bare Sr., and Lilith Bare had all been sentenced by the Witches Council to death by fire. The fire that killed them seemed to be an accidental house fire and that was the way it was written up in the newspapers.
Leroy, Henry and Constance had been spared the death sentence for they had not practiced magic and did not know of the rebellion that Artoriius, Adolph, Johnny Sr. and Lilith had plotted in an attempt to gain more wealth and political power at the expense of Witches Council member Sabian Blackrock.
Artorius had been broke when he went against Sabian. Johnny Sr. had money but he wanted more money. Adolph had a secret vault full of gold. His power play against Sabian was more personal than about money. Though dead, Adolph had the ability to use magic to move gold from the vault to give to his grandson, Leroy.
Leroy watched Deven Raven with fleeting glances and sweet thoughts of the times he had watched him on Chaturbate. Deven walked up to Leroy’s table. “How are you doing?”
“Disturbed and insane but what else is new.”
Deven said, “Look. I am sorry I took your money with the promise of letting you peep in the window while I had sex with Trish Ireland and then decided to close the blinds. I will give you your money back when I have it.”
Leroy smiled. “I was angry about that.” Leroy though a moment. “But.” Leroy considered that he had given Deven $500. He wondered if Deven might pay him back with something besides money but then he knew what the answer would be if he suggested that. Leroy coughed and then quickly took a drink from the glass of water at his table. As he sat the glass down Leroy said, “You keep the money.”
Deven nodded. He whispered, “Thanks.” Deven asked, “How is your mom doing?”
“She has me hooked into a scheme that could get me killed, but you know, there is nothing like a mother’s love.”
Deven never knew when Leroy was being serious or trying to be comically edgy. Deven said, “I guess. My stepfather Earl got me the job here. I first protested but it has been working out pretty good. Roy is the best.”
Leroy said, “Sure. This is a pretty good job. You met Steed Ramsey here and dumped Trish for him.”
Deven said, “No. Steed and I are not a couple and I did not dump Trish. She dumped me when Steed told her that I am a cam model on Chaturbate. I hated Steed for that but he is not a bad person.”
“So you didn’t go home with Steed to have sex with him.”
“No. I’ve told you that I am straight.”
“I know. I am sorry that I bother you.”
“You don’t bother me.”
“Well, I guess I better be going. There are some laws I need to break.”
Leroy stood up. Leroy kissed Deven on the side of the face and whispered in his ear. “I love you.” Leroy then walked out of the Purple Bird Billiard Club.

Dioson pushed a button to call Leroy Bare.
Leroy was sitting on a bench at a bus stop near the Purple Bird Billiard Club when he got the call.
Dioson said to Leroy, “Man, I am in trouble. There is a helicopter following me and a freaking spaceship. I need the help of Madison Grant but she wants to know who hired me. We need her help.”
Leroy said, “Do you know if the person in the spaceship is working for the Witches Council?”
“I don’t know shit. I just know that I need help.”
“Okay. I have access to my grandfather’s spaceship. I will use it to try to give you cover for your escape.”
“You are going to get us all killed. Let me give Madison your name.”
“There are some on the Witches Council who already would like to burn mom and me at the stake just like they did grandfather. You can’t tell them what mom and I are trying to do.”
“Man. I don’t know what you are trying to do. I just know that you are trying to get some damn hospital computer codes that are protected by magic”
“Give me a chance to help you. If I can’t get you out of this jam, then I know you will do what you have to do. But give me the chance.”
“Okay.”
Dioson disconnected. He pushed the button to contact Madison. “My boss is going to be in the air to try to save my ass. If he fails, then it is up to you.”
Madison said, “Good enough. I will figure out who your boss is.”
“Sure. But if you cause him to be burned at the stake, your father can continue to rot for eternity in that dungeon. I will not help you.”
“You have never proved to me that you have a way to get into the prison.”
“I have never proved to you that I have a dick either, but I’ve got one.”
Madison said, “So you say, but maybe not for long.”
“Bitch.”
“Queer.”
“Yeah, and proud of it.”
“Back at you.”
Dioson laughed. “If I didn’t hate you so much for allowing me to get this desperate, I think I would love you.”
“I do not want to get in trouble with Alice Malokey or the Witches Council. I have word that you are working with some rebel factions.”
“Do you mean like your mom?”
“Exactly.”
“Oh shit. They are moving in. Whoever is on that spaceship is getting a tractor beam in place to pull this van into the spaceship. Please do something. Give me some time.”
Madison said, “Okay. I am going to give you the power to make youself invisible. The power should work against the tractor beam.”
“Thank you. I will dance at your wedding.”
“Naked and coming out of a cake.”
“It is a promise.”
