Hearthville Serial: Book 7 – Episode 18

Excerpt:

Someone screamed on the intercom from one of the outlaw ships. “If these bitches think that they are going to destroy the Second Iapetus they had better go on and take a shit because their toilet paper is running out.”

Artorious stood. He waved his arms so that he was clothed in armor and now a sword was in his hand, and a jetpack was on his back. I will fight for my gods and for the freedom within this prison that they give me.”

Victor’s body lay lifeless on the floor where Caelous had left him while going to save Amelia. Madison sat at the controls of her spaceship, trying to fly toward the second Iapetus but there were strange currents around the ship. The spaceship would sway this way and that.

The spacial roller coaster ride that Caelous had created to trap the spaceship of Captain Crayon and some other spaceships had vanished. Captain Crayon again flew close to Madison’s spaceship.

On the intercom to Madison’s spaceship, Captain Crayon said, “Follow me to the Crayon Pirate Ship and Island.”

Madison screamed, “No. I am going to the Second Iapetus.”

Captain Crayon said, “I am hearing that the Second Iapetus is currently under attack by around 1,000 spaceships of the Round Abouts.”

Rasputin said, “He is not lying. There is chatter on multiple frequencies. The Witches Council seems to be using that group to illegally invade the Outlands.”

Artorious asked, “What is Iapetus doing about it?”

Rasputin said, “There is at least one report that he has been caged.”

Madison questioned, “Is that even possible?” She looked at Victor laying on the floor. “Please don’t let that be possible.”

Rasputin said, “I pray that it is not possible. But the person on the radio said they heard it straight from General Gorgan who according to sources is fleeing back to Pluto Viso.”

Madison approached the second Iaptus and saw that it was indeed surrounded by more spaceships than she could count. “We have got to get the hell out of here.”

Rasputin said, “Fly under our shield. And Madison.”

Madison answered, “Yes.”

Rasputin said, “If you even think of betraying Victor, we will cage you.”

Madison said, “If you try to betray him, I will cage you first.”

Donny Maxtone knelt down to the floor and held Victor in his arms. “Please wake up Victor. Right now, we need your crazy ass.”

Artorious said, “You love him.”

“In the physical world, I was the child that Ellen Duddley gave up for adoption. When I first realized who I was and who he was, I didn’t know anything about anything. So to me, he was my baby brother. I would spy on him and Stewart. I spied on the family that was my family and yet was not my family. So in my mind, I thought of Victor and Stewart as my brothers even though they had no clue.”

“So you knew that on Preacher Pat’s desk about who his parents was, was bullshit.”

“I didn’t know what to think about that. I did know then was not the time to talk about such things.”

Madison stared at Donny. “You sacrificed yourself to save Victor through time travel after he was murdered. You must be a fairly powerful witch in your own right.”

“I wish I was a powerful witch. I have my moments but like a lot of us, you know, earth witches, I ping a lot. My emotions prevent my spells from working. And you know how it is with those of us who grow up not even knowing that we are witches. We are naturally weaker.”

Artorious spoke. “Well, we know Victor is powerful and Caelous is powerful. I wonder why Caelous did not stop me from having Rachel and Rita attack and kill Victor that night.”

Victor opened his eyes. “Because I was not with Victor that night. I was up on Pluto Viso. But I, Caelous, am here now.”

Victor stood up. He looked though the monitors at the attack against the Second Iapetus that was going on. “Hell. They are planning on trying to send both Iapetus and me back into the locked realm of Iapetus. It is not just me they are after.”

Rasputin and Captain Crayon could hear what was being said. Captain Crayon said, “You can’t save Iapetus. We hear that they already have him caged. They may have a cage that can hold you as well.”

“I can’t abandon Iapetus. I must prove to my son that I am worthy.”

Madison said, “We are just one ship.”

Captain Crayon said, “Honey, look again. We are right here by you. And to our flank the outlaws have begun to gather.”

Donny Maxtone followed to clothe himself in armor. “We will fight the good fight and damn well enjoy the blood of our enemies.”

Victor vanished.

Madison shook her head. “Where the hell did he go?”

Hearthville Serial: Book 7 – Episode 17

Excerpt:

Stewart read, “All the rivers flow into the sea,
Yet the sea is not full.
To the place where the rivers flow,
There they flow again.

Ecclesiastes 1:7″

Stewart called out, “Preacher Pat, I need to talk to you.”

There was no answer. But then Stewart heard something that sounded like whispers. Stewart called out, “Who is there.”

Then Stewart heard giggles and suddenly the loud sound of laughter. The sound of laughter sounded like it was coming from the cellar. Stewart walked to the staircase to the upstairs. Then he walked to the side of it where there was a door to beneath the stairs. Stewart opened the door. Behind the door was a ladder that reached down into the cellar.

Stewart called out, “Who is down there?”

There was no answer. There was only more laughter.

Stewart reached beside the ladder and flipped a switch. The cellar lit up. Stewart asked himself, “Should I climb down there?” Stewart screamed, “Preacher Pat, there has been a bio terror attack on the church. Please don’t go inside the church.” Stewart had a God awful feeling that his message was too late. “Preacher Pat, please answer me.” There was no answer.

Stewart stepped onto the ladder. “Who could be down in the cellar?”

Steed parked Victor’s white van in the church parking lot. Leroy pulled up beside him and parked. They both got out of their vehicles.

Leroy told Steed. “I know Victor is powerful. He sent Belial to hell. But I have the most awful feeling.”

“I am new to this witch stuff. I don’t know what to think.”

Leroy and Steed walked around and found Judy and Jack sitting on the picnic table. They weren’t sure what they were going to be told or what they were going to say. Then they saw that both Judy and Jack were crying.

Judy stood and fell into Steed’s arms. “Preacher Pat is dead.” Judy pointed to the Hazmat EMS crew. “Victor knew it before the body was brought out.”

Steed scratched his head. “It is kind of odd the way they are leaving the stretcher with the body bag just sitting there.”

Jack said, “Victor vanished right in front of us. Before he vanished he said he was going to stop the soul of Preacher Pat from being caged. Why would anyone want to cage the soul of Preacher Pat?”

Steed said, “I don’t know.” Steed looked around. He mumbled, “Something does not feel right but I guess since this covid nightmare began nothing has felt right for a very long time.”

Leroy said, “Victor would not be worried about Preacher Pat’s soul being caged without reason. I guess there is more to Preacher Pat than any of us knew. I wish I had been kinder to him. But his type of religion creeps me out.”

Steed said, “Preacher Pat would visit my mom at the mental institution. I guess I need to tell her about his death before she hears it from someone else.” Then Steed looked around. “Say, where is Stewart. After Stewart learned who I am, he made a point to visit my mom with Preacher Pat. It might help if Stewart would come with me.”

Judy said, “Stewart would visit your mom. I did not know that.”

“It was always with Preacher Pat. They visited other patients. It is just after Stewart learned about me and mom, he made a point that she be one of the patients they would visit. My mom can be a hard case and it was not my idea for Stewart to visit her, though I was glad he and Preacher Pat did. I am still scared for you to visit her. She can be really mean.” An image of that awful night in the attic where his mom and Rita Angster had attacked Victor flashed in his mind.

Judy had never heard the story of how Steed’s mom Rachel had tried to kill Victor. Judy said, “I understand.” She didn’t really but that was an argument for another day.

Leroy asked, “But where is Stewart. They have Preacher Pats body there at the EMS Van. I don’t see Stewart in the crowd that is gathering there.”

Judy thought a moment. “The last I talked to Stewart he was worried about Preacher Pat. He was trying to call him on the phone. I guess he went back to Preacher’s Pat house looking for him. Stewart would have known to not go into the church.”

Steed looked around.

Jack did as well. “Stewart was close to Preacher Pat. He is going to be as devastated as I am. Stewart doesn’t need to be alone.”

Judy said, “We need to go to Preacher Pat’s house. Stewart must be there.”

Earlier…

Stewart tried calling Preacher Pat but Preacher Pat did not answer his phone. Steward ran up the steps to Preacher Pat’s house. The hard wooden door was open behind the closed screen door. Stewart opened the screen door. “Preacher Pat,” Stewart called out. No one answered. Stewart went into the home. He flipped a switch to turn the light fixtures and lamps on. All the lamps were on the same switch as the overhead lights. Preacher Pat did like his antique lamp collection.

Stewart looked at one lamp that that had a blue mermaid at its base. The shade was a double sided glass square and reached from top to bottom to surround the mermaid. Between the panes of glass was water that bubbled with oxygen. “That looks new. It must have been a gift. Cool though.” Stewart noticed an opened bible next to the lamp.

Stewart read, “All the rivers flow into the sea,
Yet the sea is not full.
To the place where the rivers flow,
There they flow again.

Ecclesiastes 1:7″

Stewart called out, “Preacher Pat, I need to talk to you.”

Stewart stepped onto the ladder. “Who could be down in the cellar?”

Victor stared at Preacher Pat. He thought back to when had been in Preacher Pat’s bedroom and had seen the dream Preacher Pat was having of where he was at the crucifixion of Jesus. Victor had stepped into Preacher Pat’s dream. Then Victor thought to the conversation that he and Stewart had with Preacher Pat on the porch. Victor realized something did not feel right. He felt manipulated but was the manipulation from Preacher Pat or someone else. If the manipulation was from Preacher Pat then that would mean that Preacher Pat isn’t human.

The papers on Preacher Pat’s desk suggested that Preacher Pat had been given up for adoption by his mom Ellen and Arthur Ramsey. Preacher Pat had said he did not know how the papers had gotten there. Victor wondered if that had been part of the manipulation.

Victor turned to Madison. “Honey, be a dear, and you take over flying your ship.” Victor stood up from the controls. He put his hand on Preacher Pialo’s shoulder. “I am sorry you are feeling so confused.”

“I am confused. It is so hard to believe that I am dead.”

Victor looked up at the monitor. He watched the many spaceships riding the roller coaster that he had created. “Sometimes I feel confused. Even as my higher self, I can be fooled. I can be tricked. Betrayed.”

Victor looked at Donny Maxtone. “You take Captain Crayon, he does not always look the same. He always has that nose but some witches can totally shape shift.”

Donny Maxtone said, “That is true but if you are thinking that I am someone else, you are wrong.”

“How did we learn that Preacher Pialo is dead?”

Madison stared at Victor.

“Preacher Pialo was never in danger of being caged, was he? Donny and I are the ones in danger of being caged, aren’t we?”

“Who suggested that Preacher Pialo might be caged?” Madison asked. “It was not me.”

Victor said, “Donny.” He asked, “Why did you think there was a danger that Preacher Pialo might be caged?”

“I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. I guess it was a weird assumption. It was just a thought that came into my head and out my mouth and then I believed it. There was a bio terror attack on his church so maybe it was not such a weird assumption.”

“Well, any time Madison is around, I guess it is wise to figure there is danger. And you did warn me that I could be in danger.” Victor studied Preacher Pialo’s face. Then he turned to study Madison’s face. Victor was not sure what to think.

* * *

Earlier…

Stewart climbed down into the cellar of Preacher Pat’s home. Stewart had been down in the cellar before with Preacher Pat when Preacher Pat was looking for a book to loan Stewart. Stewart considered that he had not gotten around to reading the book yet. He couldn’t even remember the title of the book. But Preacher Pat had wanted him to read the book.

Stewart looked around the cellar. The ladder was surrounded by book cases and with just one opening at the corner between the book cases. Stewart thought he heard foot steps from behind one of the bookcases. “Who is down here?”

Stewart felt nervous as he eased toward the opening. He had never seen behind the bookcases and somewhat felt like he was invading Preacher Pat’s privacy. Still, he walked to the opening. Beyond the opening, the lights were flickering and flashing. “Damn fluorescent lights.” Stewart stepped beyond the bookcases. He noticed an old grandfather clock. The only time he had ever seen such a clock was in the movies; usually the movies were of horror or mystery. Stewart joked to himself, “Now where is the secret compartment.”

Then it was like suddenly, out of no where a door appeared next to the grandfather clock. Stewart guessed the door was always there. It was just those damn flashing fluorescent lights that prevented him from seeing the door.

“Should I open the door?” Stewart felt afraid.

* * *

Leroy watched the crowd. “Why would they be letting people to get near to Preacher Pat’s body? And the men who brought the body bag out on the stretcher are taking off their hazmat suits. That doesn’t make sense.”

Steed said, “Exactly. And just leaving the body there. Crazy.”

Judy said, “It doe not make sense, does it?”

Leroy, Judy, Steed and Jack gathered themselves from where they had been at the picnic table and walked toward the crowd. They walked into the crowd. They walked toward the stretcher. They looked at the body bag.

Leroy said, “There is no body in the bag.”

One of the hazmat team said, “We could not find any body in the church.”

Jack said, “Preacher Pat is not dead.”

The man said, “I can not say that, but we found no body. There was no one in the church.”

Judy puzzled. “Why would Victor say what he said?”

Steed said, “Victor was being tricked by Madison. This is not good. I’ve got to call my father and let him know.”

Judy asked, “Who is Madison and what do you mean Victor was tricked by her?”

“I don’t know. I don’t know how to explain. This is all so confusing.”

Leroy said, “This is not good. I need to talk to some people also.”

Jack said, “Preacher Pat might not be dead. This is very good news.”

Steed and Leroy looked at Jack. Leroy said, “Victor might be in trouble.”

Steed said, “I’ve got to call my father?”

* * *

Arthur Ramsey threw his cellphone across the room. “I hate this. I hate it.” He stared at his wife, Clarice. “What am I going to do? I do not want to believe it but I fear that Alice Malokey is working to have Victor caged.”

“Why? Why would you say that?” Clarice asked.

“They have not found Preacher Pat’s body and Victor went to rescue Preacher Pat from being caged. And I just got off the phone with Alice and she is saying that she doesn’t know what is going on?”

“Maybe she doesn’t know. I don’t know why she trusts Madison Grant. Trusting that woman is just crazy.”

“So do you think this all may be Madison?”

“I don’t know.”

Suddenly the ghost of Nanny Ogleby appeared next to Arthur. He jumped in fright. “What the hell? Woman. You scared me.”

Clarice laughed. “Bitch, you old ghost, what you be doing here.”

Nanny said, “I wish I was in a playful mood but what brings me here is that I am scared for Artorious.”

Arthur asked, “What the hell is my father up to now?”

“They and by they let me make clear that I have no idea who the hell they are but they told Artorious that if he would pretend to be someone they would help him find Netty, you know, Jossette.”

Arthur said, “Well, I am worried about Jossette also. I would like to know where she is.”

“You don’t understand. I am not sure I understand. But the bottom line is that he is going to betray Victor Duddley. I am pretty sure that whoever they are, they are planning on trying to cage Victor.”

Clarice asked, “Do you know who Artorious is supposed to pretend to be?”

Nanny Ogleby said, “Preacher Pat.”

Arthur screamed, “Shit. Shit. Shit. Son of a bitch. What the hell am I going to do? Somehow I have to protect both Victor and my father. Should I call Alice Malokey or is my worst fear real and she is in on this shit? I did not like our last conversation.”

Nanny Ogleby said, “I don’t know. Artorious would not tell me much. He just told me that if he vanishes, he wanted me to know what his vanishing might be about.”

“What witch can I call to help that will not betray me?”

Clarice said, “You need to let Iapetus know what is going on?”

“I am not sure I can reach him.”

* * *

Madison sat at the controls of her spaceship. She knew Victor was testing her. Could she count on Artorious who was pretending to be Preacher Pat jumping in to help her if she needed help? Could she dare change the direction of her spaceship and fly it where her father had directed her to fly it? She sat like a deer in the headlights of a car.

Suddenly, two spaceships flew up next to her spaceship. She knew from the Assignment Numbers on the outside of the ships that they had been sent by an organization, “The Round Abouts,” that was controlled by Sabian Blackrock.

A man with a squeaky voice came on the radio intercom, “Follow us to the realm of Golgotha.”

Madison asked Victor, “What should I do?”

“Proceed to the Second Iapetus by evading them. You know how to do that.”

“Maybe you should take back control of the ship,” Madison said.

Artorious pretending to be Preacher Pat stared at Madison. He wanted his Netty back. He thought he would move heaven and earth to have her back by his side. But he considered and questioned that if he continued with his betrayal of Victor would she ever truly be at his side. He had no idea how he should play the hand that he had been dealt. He considered transforming back into his self and let Victor know who he was and why he was doing what he was doing. But he just wasn’t sure.

Victor smiled. He asked, “So what is this all about?”

Madison and Artorious said nothing. They sat silent.

Victor took control of the radio. He spoke to the men in the two ships. “Yo, bitches. Get the hell out of here before I send you to, yeah you know what I am going to say. Hell.”

The two ships quickly vanished.

Artorious transformed himself from looking like Preacher Pat to looking like himself. “I agreed to do what they wanted because they promised that I would get to see my Netty.”

Victor said, “Jossette. Do they know where Jossette is?”

“Nanny Ogleby suggested they might be lying. She begged me to not again betray you.”

Victor nodded.

Madison said, “Sabian Blackrock promised my father that if I betrayed you that he would release Napoleon.”

Victor nodded. He stared at Donny Maxtone.

Donny laughed. “Man, I am here with you. I want to know where Jossette is but I had no idea what they had promised Artorious. I thought he was Preacher Pat.”

Victor said, “God damn. Such a mess. I also want to know where Jossette is. Have they done her like Napoleon? Have they caged her?”

Donny said, “I think she actually has been visiting Rachel. It is just when I have tried to catch her there by basically camping out with Rachel, Jossette visits on a different vibration from me. Of course I could be wrong, but if they have her caged now I don’t think they have had her caged the entire time.”

Artorious said, “Rachel is very convincing that Jossette has been visiting her but I have been like Donny, I’ve never seen Netty there. And we all know that Rachel imagines things. The men who came to me were very convincing that they could bring Jossette to me.”

Madison put her spaceship on autopilot to the Second Iapetus. She stood up. “Do you remember how you were freed from the First Iapetus, a realm that no one else has been able to open up and leave?”

Victor said, “I don’t think I was there. If I was then I was in a sleep.”

“Sabian Blackrock told my father that you were there and a group of witches held a seance and summoned you forth. He would not tell my father who you are but I would guess that you are Caelus or Uranus, whichever name that you prefer.”

“I prefer the name Victor.”

Madison grinned. “Okay.” Then her face became more stern. “But the point is that Sabian wants to gather that same group of witches to send you back to be imprisoned in the First Iapetus. Jossette was never the weak witch that she pretended to be. She is not as powerful as Amberline Darko but pretty close to it. The Witches Council are very afraid of both women. But now Sabian Blackrock does not mind poking the bear and playing with fire.”

Artorious said, “There is no way Sabian can gather that entire coven together to send you back. I wasn’t sure who you were, but if you are him, I sure as hell do not want you sent back. You are the only hope we have to free earth of the Space Alien Witches.”

Victor cocked his head at Madison “Are you sure that I am Caelus?”

Madison said, “My mom told me some things when I was studying the subject. I studied you long before I met you though until I had you on my spaceship I wasn’t sure who you are. And I guess I could be wrong and you aren’t Caelus, but I don’t think that I am. I might could convince myself to betray Victor but I would never betray Caelus.”

Victor nodded. “I guess I told you enough for you to figure it out.”

Madison said, “My mom first suggested it to me. She told me that me and my father were being fools. But I do want my Napoleon freed.”

Victor said, “And I want my Jossette safe. I do not want her hurt.”

Madison said, “So how are we going to play this to protect Jossette and try to free Napoleon.”

Victor threw his head back and looked up toward the ceiling. “Napoleon will be freed in time. When I told you that I was serious. But to how I will protect Jossette, I don’t have a fucking clue.”

Donny asked, “How powerful is Victor without you, Caelus?”

“Very. But he is broken. He is a mess. And I don’t know if I could maintain a connection to him if I allowed myself to be sent back to the First Iapetus.”

Madison said, “No. No. Don’t. I mean no. You can’t allow yourself to be sent back to the First Iapetus. You are our only hope.”

“There is Amelia. Somewhere there is my brother Jesus.”

Donny said, “We know that Amelia sleeps. I’ve been told that Jesus will not come past the Wall with the three thrones. Caelus, we need you.”

“And maybe the souls who are trapped in the First Iapetus also need me. Maybe if the coven can gather again they can send me back. I can gather my army. And they can bring me back forth with my full army.”

Artorious said, “We are not that powerful. We could barely free you the first time.”

Madison said, “You sent Belial to hell. You can help defeat the Space Alien Witches.”

Victor or Caelus said, “I did not send Belial to hell. Victor did in a confused state where he thought he was dreaming and playing a video game. He is a mess. But don’t underestimate my spawn. I think I do need to go back to the First Iapetus. The Space Alien Witches can’t be defeated without opening the First Iapetus back up. We need those souls trapped there freed. We need those numbers to scare the Space Alien Witches shitless.”

Madison said, “There is a soul who may know how to open the First Iapetus up. I have had to pretend to be his enemy and play him the dummy to keep the Space Alien Witches confused. I need your help with him. Please. I beg you. Do not allow yourself to be sent back to the First Iapetus.”

“You came here with malice and now you would save me?”

“I came here to save my Napoleon but I tried to convince myself that you aren’t Caelous. I now know that you are. I would never have malice against Caelous, only love for my Napoleon. Do you understand?”

“I do.”

Donny said, “Let us get the hell out of the outlands.”

Madison said, “We need to get Caelous to his son, Iapetus. We need them together.”

Caelous asked, “And Victor.”

Artorious said, “Madison and I will swear an oath to protect Victor. My Netty loves you, him, whatever and I guess I must leave my insane jealousy behind.”

Donny Maxtone said, “And you know how I feel about Victor.”

Suddenly Victor/Caelous screamed. “Oh hell. They are going after Amelia.”

Victor fell to the floor of the spaceship. Madison knelt down and shook him. He felt limp. She looked at Donny and Artorious. “We must all swear an oath to protect Victor and Caelous no matter what our way comes.”

Donny said, “I have sworn that oath many times. I swear it again.”

Artorious said, “I swear to protect Victor/Caelous, you Madison, and you Donny with all my ability. I swear.”

Madison said, “Then we are Three as One.”

Donny said, “In time we will be a greater number as One.”

Trembling, Stewart opened the door. “I feel afraid but I must not be so. I must be brave.”

Stewart walked through the door. Flashing lights surrounded Stewart though he could not see the source. He heard giggles. Then he heard Preacher Pat Piaolo’s voice.

“Please leave me some dignity. Please.”

Stewart wondered if he should call out to Preacher Pat to let him know that… “What would I let him know. I don’t even know what is going on. I don’t know who are responsible for the giggles. And these lights. Why are they flashing around me?”

Stewart walked through a large space into a much narrower space though for a passage or hallway it was wide enough. Again, Stewart heard Preacher Pat’s voice.

“Stop pulling my boxer shorts down. Leave me my shorts. Don’t let my body be found naked.”

Stewart heard a woman’s voice.

“But you are a handsome man. I see your ass is nice and firm. And your cock is large. Seeing your cock makes my pussy wet.”

Stewart continued walking. Then he stopped cold. In the flashing lights he stared at the wall. “There is writing on the…” Stewart examined the wall more closely. “The wall is lined with crypts. I am in a mausoleum of some kind. I would not think the church is old enough to have a catacomb beneath it.”

Stewart heard Preacher Pat’s voice.

“Those aren’t crypts. What is this behind the facade?”

Out from Witch City In the Metaphysical World…

Sam Bigalo’s mother, Samanjela stood on a rock balcony overlooking a river some 1200 feet below. She turned to see her grandson Rabbit who was sixteen and something of a wild one. Sam Bigalo was his father.

“Granny, why were you upset that I brought Winston with me to visit you and grandfather.”

“You must understand that Winston’s grandfather, Sabian Blackrock is dangerous and is our enemy. Sabian is a danger to Amelia.”

“I hate the way my father treated my mother. He might have loved my mom more if he could have just let go of Amelia.”

“I guess I understand but you don’t wish Amelia harm, do you? You didn’t sneak Winston here to get back at us, did you?”

“Of course not. Winston is having trouble with his parents. He needed some place to get away from them. He had never been to the Witch City and I thought this would be the perfect place for him to hide from his parents. I just wanted to be up front with how I feel about Amelia because I did not want you to get the wrong idea.”

“Your grandfather and I should not be helping Winston to hide from his parents. Because of how we feel about Sabian, when discovered, they will build it up into some kind of conspiracy like we kidnapped him or some terrible such thing.”

“Please do not send Winston back.”

“We must let Bilford Arthur and Winfey Blackrock know that Winston is here. I will advocate that he be allowed to stay.”

Rabbit hugged his granny. “Thanks. You will find that Winston is a great young man. You know he saved me from drowning after mom vanished.”

“Sam never told me about that. Were you trying to do harm to yourself?”

“I don’t know what I was trying to do. I was drunk and feeling sorry for myself but I don’t think when I took the dare to swim across the bay I was much thinking about anything. Of course back then I could not cross the line between the living and dead. I could not visit places like Witch City.”

“Yes. Earth is a very much different place once you realize that earth is not one world but many worlds and understand that death is an illusion. Still we can not go to all worlds. Some worlds are locked. And there are some worlds that we must earn the right to enter.”

“I wish I could find where mom has gone. I guess she must be in a world I can’t enter.”

Samanjela knew things she was not about to tell Rabbit. She changed the subject. She asked, “Where is your friend Winston now?”

“Taking a long shower. I am afraid one of the few pleasures he gets out of life is imagining that he is the lover of some celebrity while jerking off.”

Samanjela gave her grandson an eye roll. Then she looked up toward the sky. She saw three spaceships hovering and she felt a great fear in the pit of her stomach. “You know we relocated here to protect Amelia.”

Rabbit looked up to see what his grandmother was seeing in the sky. “I haven’t told anyone. Winston would not tell anyone. Honest.”

“I believe you.” Samanjela called out to her husband. “Ansil, there are three spaceships hovering.” She pulled out her eye glass to get a closer look at the ships. “I think the ships belong to the Round Abouts group but I am not sure.”

Ansil came out. He looked up at the spaceships. Then he looked around. “I am going to the computer radar. I’ve got a bad feeling.”

“So do I. I’ve got a feeling the Blackrocks have found where we are.”

Rabbit screamed, “Winston would not tell anyone.”

Ansil said, “I am not accusing him or you. This is not about accusing. This is about protecting our asses. Boy. Don’t you understand that we are in danger. I do not want any of us to end up in a cage.”

Winston walked out on the balcony. “We are in danger. Have my parents found out where I am?”

Ansil screamed, “I don’t have time. I have got to get to the radar computer.”

Rabbit hugged on his friend. “They are afraid for Amelia. Dad told me how your grandfather has already tried to get her once.”

Winston nodded. “I hate my family.”

Caelous appeared on the balcony but only one person on the balcony could see or hear him. Caelous said, “We need to get Amelia on the boat that is down in the water caves. Do you understand?”

No one responded to Caelous.

Winston said, “I don’t think they can see or hear you.”

Caelous said, “But you can.”

“Seems that way.”

“Tell them. Please hurry. Tell them.”

“There is some dude here that says you need to get Amelia on the boat that is down in the water caves.”

Rabbit asked, “Who? I don’t see anyone.”

“I don’t know. He looks like that Victor Duddley dude I was reading about the other day.”

Ansil ran out on the balcony. “They are positioning to surround us.”

Rabbit said, “According to Winston, Victor Duddley is telling us that we need to get Amelia to the boat in the water caves.”

Ansil stared at his wife. “Do you know what he is talking about?”

Caelous screamed, “You follow me and tell them to follow you.”

“I will follow Victor and you should follow me. I think he is trying to help.”

Samanjela said, “We have Amelia hidden.” She quickly fumbled with her phone that was in her green apron pocket. “I’ve got to call Sam.” As she pressed a couple of buttons she managed to get her phone to her ear as the number dialed and he picked up. “Son. We are fixing to be under attack by the Round Abouts Group.”

Sam said, “Shit. Alice told me that Arthur Ramsey is afraid for Victor and Jossette. I did not think I should be afraid for you all as well.”

Rabbit could hear what was being said on the phone. He screamed, “Winston says that Victor is here in astral form. He wants to get Amelia to a boat in the water caves. Can we trust Victor?”

Sam said, “I am so confused. What are you and Winston doing in the Witch City with your grandparents?”

“Dad, the spaceships are coming closer. We don’t have time for your questions. Can we trust Victor?”

Sam screamed, “Mom, do you have an escape plan.”

“We have Amelia hidden. They should not be able to find her.”

Caelous said, “They know about the secret room behind the fireplace in the kitchen.”

Winston said, “If you have her in the secret room behind the fireplace in the kitchen, they know about it.”

Ansil said, “I don’t see where we have any choice but to get Amelia and follow the boy.”

Sam said, “Okay dad. Do it. Save yourselves and save Amelia. Rabbit, know that I love you. And Winston, know that I do not hate you.”

Winston laughed. “Sir, back at you. Now we’ve got to get our asses moving. Victor is already heading to the secret room to get Amelia. I am following.”

Samanjela put her phone back into her apron pocket.

Everyone followed Winston who was following Caelous. Caelous entered the kitchen.

Caelous said, “Sorry young fellow but I am going to need to borrow your body.” Caelous jumped into Winston’s body.

Winston stretched open the gray sweat pants he was wearing. “He jumped into my body and now my dick is 12 inches long. It feels different.”

Rabbit peeped at Winston’s cock. “Damn.”

Winston quickly popped his sweats to again be snug back against his stomach.

Caleus/Winston then turned the antique radio on that was on the mantel above the fireplace. That opened the secret door to the secret room where Amelia was hidden.

Samanjela said, “He knew how to open the door.”

Caleus looked at Amelia laying in her bed. Tears filled his/Winston’s eyes. “Mom.”

Samanjela and Ansil looked at one another. “Mom?”

They heard people begin to break into the home.

Caleous/Winston snapped his fingers and transported everyone but the intruders to the boat. Caleous/Winston said, “You all will be safe here.”

Caelous stepped out of Winston’s body. Winston again opened his sweat pants to look at his cock. “Damn. Man. Couldn’t you have left me with a 12 inch cock.”

Winston pulled his sweat pants to again fit against his belly. Winston and Rabbit both looked around the boat which was more of a small ship than a boat.

Rabbit said, “This is not a rowboat. It is a ship.”

Caelous said, “It is an invisible ship, hidden by old magic that the space alien witches know nothing about. Amelia will be safe here. I must go.”

Winston said, “Caelous. Wait. Please don’t go.”

“You know my name.”

“I do know that your name is Caelous but I do not know how I know that.”

“I must go. Tell them how the ship is invisible and protected by old magic. There are canned goods and good beverages in storage off the galley. I’ve got to go back to my body and figure out what I am going to do next. Your grandfather’s people may have Jossette prisoner.”

Caelous vanished.

“Victor, that is Caelous, is now gone. He told me to tell you that the ship is invisible and Amelia will be safe here on the ship. There are canned goods and beverages in storage off the galley.”

Rabbit smiled. “This is fucking cool. Man. Your parents and grandfather will never find you here. And just think, an invisible pirate ship. Man, the damage we could do with this. Imagine being a pirate with an invisible ship.”

Samanjela touched Winston. “Thank you for getting us and Amelia to safety.”

“Well. It was all Caelous really, but you are welcome.”

Caelous reappeared to get another look at Amelia. Winston saw his return and how he walked to Amelia. He touched her face and said, “May you soon wake.”

Winston said, “He is back.”

Caelous turned to Winston and said, “Tell Samanjela that I also say that she is welcome and let her know how much I love her for taking care of Amelia.”

“Caelous also says that you are welcome and that he loves you for taking care of Amelia. Know that his are are not empty words. I could feel the love he feels in his heart for you and your husband.”

Listening to Winston’s words, Caelous realized that Winston could not only hear his words but feel his emotions. Most witches, even if they have the power of empathy, often do not use that power.

Caelous said, “Young man, thank you. I must being going.”

Caelous vanished from Winston’s view. “He is gone.” Winston shook his head in anger. “My grandfather would even fight a god. Grandfather Sabian is one crazy son of a bitch.”

Samanjela shook her head. “Wait. Caelous. The Caelous. You mean Victor is the god Uranus. He is not trapped in the First Iapetus?”

Winston said,. “I don’t really know much about such things but I know Victor loves Amelia very much and that he hopes that she will soon wake.”

“Does he have the power to wake her?”

“I don’t know. If he does he did not use the power.”

Ansil saw the troubled look on his wife’s face. He said, “Dear, we have taken care of Amelia all of these years. We have protected her. Are you prepared that she may be about to wake?”

Rabbit said, “Caelous did not wake her. She still sleeps there. Why would you think she might be about to wake?”

“Caelous being here means something. His saving us means something. His wish that his mother might wake means something. So again I ask, Samanjela, are you prepared that Amelia might be about to wake?”

“Of course I am prepared. I want her to wake. I dream that she will wake.”

“But we dream that she will still love Sam. We dream that we will still be part of her life when she awakes. We dream that she will be grateful. But when she wakes and she no longer dreams in her slumber, it might not just be the end of her dreams but ours as well. She is God. And who are we? We are nobody.”

Winston walked over to Amelia. He touched her as Caelous touched her. Then he looked at Rabbit. “Do you realize your dad was married to God. The God. This woman laying here in this hammock, this woman that I just touched, is the entity that created the computer system that controls all these worlds.”

Ansil looked at his wife. “Computer system?”

Rabbit walked over next to his friend. He stared at Amelia and shook his head. “Wait. Is this a sex hammock?”

Samanjela said, “We will find a cabin suitable for her and move her there. I don’t know why Caelous would leave Amelia in a hammock on the deck of this ship.”

Ansil said, “A god just saved us. Don’t complain.”

Winston said, “He had to get back to his body. He has to figure out how to save his woman, Jossette.”

Captain Crayon had a reputation as something of a scoundrel. He was a scraggly looking fellow. He had an extra large nose that had been broken more than once in various incarnations and that broken nose had become part of his astral identity. Generally he had curly blond hair of median length though sometimes he had a crewcut and sometimes he had short brown hair. His eyes were sometimes green and sometimes blue. When being born he was not partial to any of the Houses/Realms on the other side and such souls are less likely to have their identity appearance set. Still, those familiar with Captain Crayon knew him on sight no matter what appearance he took on. And they knew he was a mess.

Of late Captain Crayon had taken up with a sidekick that was none other than the witch Rasputin. All but one of the Houses/Realms would not accept Rasputin for they blamed him for the hell that Russia suffered after the Romanov royal family were murdered by the Bolsheviks.

Nicholas and Alix did not reject Rasputin from their House/Realm but the other members of the realm made his staying there difficult. So he left for the outlands. Iapetus took him him into the Second Iapetus Realm but when he was found organizing a group incarnation to try to restore the royal family to Russia, Iapetus turned him out. It was not that Iapetus opposed the idea but he doubted the idea would work and such a plan would only cause the souls involved more grief.

So Rasputin happened onto Captain Crayon who was trying to start a realm of his own from an old pirate ship that was something of a mystery. There was a rumor that Iapetus had secretly created the pirate ship for Captain Crayon and to gather the trouble makers that Iapetus wanted to help but did not want stirring up trouble in his realm.

Besides the huge pirate ship, Captain Crayon had a spaceship that looked like a submarine. He and Rasputin were flying it around when they spotted the spaceship of Madison Grant.

On seeing the spaceship Captain Crayon said, “Be trouble brewing that such a witch would illegally enter the outlands. Or maybe the ship is in distress. Should we dare claim the vessel?”

Rasputin stared at his friend. “Claim the vessel. There are people on that vessel and that vessel is armed. I don’t want to end this day in a cage.”

“That you say, I take advised. I shall call out to the spaceship and offer help. Wink. Wink.”

“Mighty God, my friend learn the ways of God. Offer help and without any winking. It would be good to befriend the Witches Council and Madison Grant might take kindly to you being kindly.”

“As you were kind to Alexandra and where did that get you?”

“It got me to outlands to be your best friend and where we can plot our sinister plans together, but with Madison Grant’s ship, I tell you that we must not be sinister.”

“We will see.” Captain Crayon got on the radio, “Calling the Madison Grant and warning that you be illegally in the outlands.”

Victor Duddley called back, “Listen wisely you old heretic, I am flying this ship to Iapetus and stay the fuck out of my way.”

Captain Crayon screamed, “You son of a bitch. That rude talk will get a missile up your ass.”

Victor laughed. “Captain Crayon, have fun because I am now in control of your ship and you are in for a roller coaster ride.”

Suddenly the submarine spaceship was on tracks in the other worldly sky and going for a roller coaster ride that was one hell of a ride. Captain Crayon threw up. With crap spewing from his nasty mouth he screamed, “Victor, you son a bitch, you will pay for this.”

Raputin laughed with glee, “Oh my, this is fun. Hell, this roller coaster ride is almost better than sex. I am so pleasured I may have an orgasm. Thank you Victor Duddley.”

Victor Duddley screamed with pleasure, “Rasputin, you old devil, what are you doing hanging out with Captain Crayon?”

“Captain Crayon is not so bad. He makes a nice sidekick.”

Captain Crayon protested. “I think we have established that you are my sidekick.”

Madison Grant told Victor, “Stop this roller coaster shit. You are bringing attention to us.”

Preacher Pat watched as other spaceships began to ride the roller coaster rail. “I think they like it.”

Donny Maxtone grinned. “Who doesn’t like a roller coast ride?”

Captain Crayon screamed, “I don’t. Please stop this now.”

Inside of the Madison Grant spaceship, Madison Grant stared at Victor. “You are a devil. Aren’t you.”

“Well, if I was God, I think the way to heaven would be a roller coaster ride.”

Preacher Pat said, “With all the ups and down in life, isn’t it? Isn’t the way to heaven a roller coaster ride?”

Victor winked.

Madison Grant cocked her head. “You are a direct spawn of God so…”

Victor pinched Madison Grant on the ass. “I am Amelia’s disappointment. Don’t make more of me than I am.”

Madison stared at Victor and thought about Napoleon. He might could rescue Napoleon. But Sabian Blackrock had convinced her father that Victor, who could send Belial himself to hell, was just too damn dangerous. Madison had argued with her father that Sabian was more dangerous to them than Victor, but then she had given in. She had agreed to a plan to get rid of Victor’s higher self. Madison touched Victor on the face and she fought back the tears she felt like crying. Sabian had agreed to free Napoleon if they would go along with the plan, but she knew Sabian was a liar and could not be trusted. But her father. He was so wishful that Napoleon would be freed by Sabian. Now there she was about to become an enemy of a man, probably a good man, but a man with the power to send Belial himself to hell.

Madison said, “You are a man who sent Belial himself to hell. I think you are man who could free Napoleon. Would you free Napoleon.”

“That is a job for Dude Righteous. You and your father should show him more respect.”

Madison said, “Please. Tell me that you will free Napoleon. I beg that you tell me that.”

Victor said, “Is it not enough that I tell you he will be freed? In time you will again have your true love in your arms and the things you two will do. The tribes will learn quickly enough they should never have hidden the truth of my brother and corrupted his words with half truths and lies that the gullible and the foolish have chosen to believe. He is so much more than what humanity knows. Make sure Napoleon understands that and does not become corrupted by the lies of the tribes.”

Victor turned to Preacher Pat. “You preached the lies of the tribes this last life you had on earth. But you know the truth of my brother. Make sure that Napoleon knows the truth.”

“But Victor, I know nothing. I am just a confused mess. If I preached lies before how will I know that I will not preach lies again?”

“The truth will come to you in bits and pieces from others and eventually you will remember it all. Always keep those bits and pieces in your mind for they will be the key that will open all the memory to you. You will know it all.”

Madison realized that Victor was not saying that he would be there to help Preacher Pat. Victor was not saying that he, himself, would be there to tell Napoleon what Victor called the truth. She wondered in thought, “Does he know? Why would he allow me to do my evil? God. Victor. Please stop me.” But her thoughts were silent.

“I am flying us to the second Iapetus Realm in the outlands. I know it is illegal for you to fly there so I am flying us there.”

Donny Maxtone looked at Victor and then looked at Madison.

Madison said, “I have the permission of Alice Malokey to fly you there.”

“Yeah. Well. I am flying us there. Sit back. Spread your legs. And enjoy the flight.”

Victor Duddley sat down at the controls of Madison Grant’s spaceship. She screamed, “What in the hell do you think you are doing?”

“Spread my legs!! You are a crude son of a bitch.”

“But I turn you on. Don’t I?”

“Not in a million years. Besides,” Madison’s voice turns into a mocking tone, “I know you are in love with Jossette. Your jerk off fantasy is for her Aunt Rachel to murder you in the boot of that junk car again.”

“That fucking psycho shit may work on my lower self. It has no impact on me. I am not going to suddenly turn into George or the lower Victor. So where were you planning on really flying us? Malokey maybe.”

“No?” There was an unintended question mark at the end of her answer.

“Oh. I think maybe you were. I bet you volunteered so you can go there and have a good fuck with Alice’s brother.”

“You don’t know shit. You just think you do.”

“Well. I know not to trust your pretty, all so pretty, ass.”

Donny grinned. “So I think you two are going to fall in love and get married.”

Victor laughed. “Not in a zillion years. I don’t have the required Napoleon Complex. Isn’t that right Josephine?”

Madison’s mouth fell open. She trembled. The image of her being thrown into the cage with Napoleon flashed in her mind. She wondered, “How does he know? Does the spell to hide my identity not work on him. How should I respond.” Then she screamed, “You are insane. It is my father who so loves Napoleon.”

Victor laughed. “Your secret is safe.”

“There is no secret. You are crazy. Or you are just making up shit to cause me problems.”

Victor nodded. “You know, I could free Napoleon from his cage but I will not. I will leave that to the Righteous Dude.”

Madison wondered, “Does he know where Sabian Blackrock has the cage hidden?” Then she thought, “I must not question him.”

Preacher Pat sat down in a chair. He held his head. “I feel so fucking bad. And I am so confused. You all are talking such weird shit. I want to wake up. I want to give my sermon.”

Donny began to give Preacher Pat a back rub. “It is going to be okay but you need to understand that you are dead. And in a spaceship. And on your way to the Second Iapetus where you will be protected.”

“If I am dead, where are the angels. Where are the gates to heaven? Where is St. Peter?”

Victor said, “A lot of what you preached was wrong.”

Preacher Pat stared at Victor. “Bullshit.” Then he thought a moment. “It is because I was a sinner. I was in love with Jack Minx. Now you are flying me to hell. But why does Satan look like Victor?”

Victor laughed. “Me. Satan. That is hilarious. I am not Satan.”

Madison stared at Preacher Pat. “Why is this human important to you and to Alice? He is such an idiot. And a hypocrite.”

“He was there when my brother was crucified. He comforted Amelia when she needed it. There was a moment I think if Amelia had not stopped him that he would have tried to save my brother.”

“Are you saying that you are the brother to Jesus Christ. Are you saying that Amelia is/was incarnated as Mary?”

“See. I’ve let you know one of my secrets. Are you less afraid of me?”

“I don’t know. I think I may be more afraid of you. I haven’t forgotten that you sent Belial to hell. I haven’t forgotten how powerful you can be. But now that I know that you are a spawn of the creator herself, I think that scares me most of all.”

Donny Maxtone asked, “Did the Witches Council sanction the murder of Preacher Pat?”

“Alice did not. But there are factions. Even though Sabian Blackrock is now a prisoner on Malokey he has contacts. He still gives orders. When he is freed he will still sit on the Witches Council. But the Witches Council did not sanction the harming of Preacher Pat.”

Preacher Pat pushed Donny Maxtone’s hands away from giving him a massage. He stood up. He looked at the large overhead monitor. It had grids on it and looked something like a map with an overlay of the space surrounding the large flying saucer. “So where are we now?”

Madison said, “We are just about to enter the outlands. Of course, with all of Victor’s powers I don’t see why he doesn’t just snap his fingers and then we’d be in the Second Iapetus realm.”

Victor grinned. “That would break the rules. And you know how I am a stickler for rules.”

“Yeah. Right.”

Preacher Pat asked, “Why would that be against the rules?”

Madison said, “It is kind of like the rule that a witch should not use a weapon or spell against another witch which that witch doesn’t have a way to counter. All fights must be fair and honorable to try to avoid bad Karma.”

Donny said, “But of course the bio terror attack on your church and the murder of you and the attempted murders of others was just totally fair and honorable.”

Madison said, “Of course it was not. That points to the attack being orchestated by some human group. Most of the human groups have totally forgotten what the term honorable even means. They elect politicians who are evil liars and who don’t have any ethical issue with bio terror and mass murder.”

Preacher Pat said, “Not all of us humans have lost our way.”

Madison said, “But even you think rules are made to be broken. Don’t you?”

Preacher Pat guessed he was a sinner and a hypocrite. He looked as though he wanted to cry.

Donny Maxtone put his arm around Preacher Pat’s shoulder. He said, “Now let us all quote the Witches Council in unison.”

And except for Preacher Pat, they did. “Without rules there would be anarchy.”

Madison smiled. “There are some days I long for anarchy.”

Victor said, “Well, the outlands pretty much are the realms of anarchy and constant wars. Houses fighting houses. Realms fighting realms.”

Preacher Pat scratched his head. “And you are bringing me to the outlands to protect me? Really? Seriously?”

Madison patted Preacher Pat on the back as she and Donny Maxtone stared into one another’s eyes. She laughed. “The Second Realm of Iaptetus is safe. Iapetus will protect you.” And she added, “From all the rules.”

Victor added, “And from being caged.”

Preacher Pat asked, “Why would someone want to put me in a cage? I don’t understand.”

Victor said, “There is no true death. You can not be killed on this side. But you can be caged. And some of those cages might put you into a sleep. It is a way to inactivate you. The sleep is the closest thing to the true death that there is. But the sleep is not without hope. We can still be woken or wake ourselves up.”

Donny Maxtone said, “Well, don’t forget, there is the planet of fire and brimstone where they try to remold our soul. They call it repairing us. Going there is pretty close to death.”

Victor said, “The sleep is painless. The fire and brimstone hurts like hell. And yeah they say it is to repair a soul, but the original is still there. The process does not really work.”

Preacher Pat asked, “So you have been there?”

“Oh yeah. I was never Amelia’s favorite son. I was something of a handful. And I guess it did mellow me some but I am still me.”

Madison stared at Victor. “Amelia sent you there and you still love her?”

“Of course I love Amelia. I am part of her and she is part of me. And it is not like I did not deserve to be sent there. Don’t you ever know that you have done wrong and hate yourself for it?”

Madison lied, “No.”

Preacher Pat asked, “Victor, what did you do that would cause you to be sent to the planet of fire and brimstone by this whatever you call Amelia?”

“I am not going to share all of my secrets.”

Preacher Pat asked, “Where is Amelia now?”

“She is in a sleep. Her husband’s family is watching over her. They don’t know who she is. They don’t know that she is the creator; God. I think there was a time that Sam knew but that memory has been taken from him.”

Preacher Pat scratched his head. “The person you think is God is in the sleep? How is that possible?”

Madison said, “It might not be possible. She may be playing a game.”

Victor said, “If she is playing a game, understand, she designed the playing court, the playing board, and in the end there can only be one winner.”

Madison nodded. She watched the monitor as her spaceship entered the outlands and she understood she could be caged for entering the outlands.

Important Announcement

9/22/2021

There was a critical error on sayata.net/m/ caused by a plugin. I changed the name of the plugin  folder and got the site back working on the backend.  The frontend seemed to be working during the critical error. I am not sure if there was an update of wordpress that started the error or what.  The plugin had not been updated in 2 months.  There was no change in php.  I am not sure what triggered the problem, but to be clear I do NOT blame the writer of the plugin.

Unfortunately I had used the plugin quite a bit.  It was what generated the tables I was using for a listing of the stories and the tip menu and such.   You will see the code for the plugin in place of the table.

My sites on a different host were pretty much wiped out (nothing to do with the plugin or the issues here) and I am having to rebuild.  To be clear I do not blame that host for the issues.  Some were using flat pages w/out any cms.  They are on a different host from sayata.net and saywebapp.com.

I don’t really know if I have been under attack or the problems have been coincidence.

Previous Update below:

First … sayata.net will continue as normal but with more content being added soon.  I have been sidetracked with some things.

Second and the main reason for this announcement…

I have sold sayata.com.

I have owned the domain sayata.com since 1999 so it is kind of sad for me.  I had not wanted to sell it but the money on the table became too much for me to walk away from.  The sale was made to a mystery buyer with a broker/agent handling the sale.

I had been planning to update the georgia lottery apps before things happened that were on sayata.com and had been working on the apps.  I had owned saywebapp.com before all this came up.  The georgia lottery apps will now be located there and with a current data set.

3rd… I am still writing on the Hearthville Serial.  I will be posting new episodes soon to sayata.net.

Much thanks,

Chuck

Victor drove his white van back behind the red van.

Steed called his father. “Dad, we have got a situation. Victor and I are following a red van with men who we believe were conducting a bio terror attack against Preacher Pat Pialo’s church.”

Arthur said, “I was listening to Morris on the radio. I have a call into Alice Malokey which is the only friend I have on the Witches Council to see what she can tell me.”

“Victor and I are going to need backup. Can you provide it?”

“Not without Alice’s permission.”

“Do you think the Witches Council may be behind this covid shit?”

“I would like to say no but the truth is that I don’t know. When the temperatures rose in Australia and Antarctica the population control people were given permissions by the Council but I don’t know what those permissions were. I was told told they were only given permission to put birth control chemicals in certain foods but I don’t know.”

“Dad, where do you stand?”

“We are turning earth into an asphalt desert. That has got to stop but I certainly do not support bio terror.”

“Do Victor and I need Alice’s permission to apprehend the men in the red van?”

“For now, just follow. Okay. Do not move in to try to make a citizen’s arrest. I have a call back from Alice’s assistant Madison Grant. Let me see what she has to say. Then I will call you back.”

“Okay. Bye.”

“Bye.”

“Victor, did you hear all of that?”

“I heard but if they think I am going to give the Witches Council permission to kill off all the humans where they can take over earth, they are seriously fucked in the head. Somehow I have got to get to Amelia and wake her up before the damn space aliens take complete control of earth.”

“I did not hear dad say anything about the Space Aliens trying to take complete control of earth.”

“You didn’t hear the part about needing their fucking permission to take down the bio terrorists?”

Donny said, “Victor, you are the real Victor and not the game Victor, right?”

“What do you have to say Donny?”

“If you go against the Witches Council they may have a way to cage you. You are not invincible.”

“I sent Belial to hell, didn’t I?”

“You sent him into the arms of Satan but maybe Satan wanted him in his arms. Do you know how you did it?”

“Kind of. Sort of. There are theories.”

“Well. Let me tell you something. I know someone who knows how to put you into a sleeper’s cage. They were one of the witches who summoned you during a seance and woke you from that cage. And I am fairly sure they can put you back into that cage.”

“So you know who I am?”

“I think I have figured out who you are. Do you know who you are? As my higher self, I know. But more importantly I know I can’t allow the Space Alien Witches and their Hewews to win.”

Steed asked, “Hewews?”

Victor said, “It is not important who they are.”

Victor stared at Steed as he let the Van drive itself. “I notice you haven’t asked who I am.”

Steed said, “As far as I am concerned, you are Victor. And that is all I need to know.”

Victor nodded. “I see what Victor saw in you all those years ago.”

“He saw Jossette’s loser cousin who desperately needed a friend.”

“No. He saw more than that. I see more than that.”

Donny asked, “Do you know where Jossette is?”

“I do. But I will not tell my lower self and I will not tell you.”

“Victor and I are real worried about her.”

“There is no reason to worry.”

Steed was not sure what to say. Then he cleared his throat. “My mom sees Jossette. I am not sure whether what she sees is Jossette’s ghost or something from her imagination.”

Victor said, “A little of both.”

Steed pointed up in the air. “I see two helicopters.”

Victor said, “But I am not seeing any spaceships yet.”

Suddenly the red van vanished.

Victor screamed, “Son of a bitch.”

Steed’s phone began to ring. He answered his father’s call.

Arthur said, “Alice has the two perps in custody.”

Steed said, “We saw the van vanish. There were two helicopters following and I would guess filming.”

Arthur said, “They had the cameras on you. They never saw the red van.”

Victor said, “I want to see the perps. I want to talk to the perps.”

Arthur said, “Alice made clear that they are her prisoners. No one can see them without the Witches Council’s permission.”

Victor turned the van around. He headed back to the church.

Leroy Bare drove up in a 1972 tricked out Ford, Torino Super Cobra with oversized tires and changes that pushed the top speed from 106 to 250 miles per hour. There were cars in the area that Leroy could not beat drag racing, but there were not many such cars.

Leroy passed Victor and then did a quick turn around to drive up beside Victor. Leroy had his windows down. Victor rolled his window down.

Leroy screamed, “Where the fuck are you going? Are you just going to let the bio terrorists get away?”

Victor screamed back, “We have word that Alice Malokey has them in her custody. I don’t know if custody is the right word because I don’t know if the Witches Council is behind this covid shit.”

Leroy screamed, “My mom has been screaming at me every time she reads some mindless shit on the covid crap that Sabian Blackrock is behind it.”

“He is a prisoner on Malokey or he better damn well be. Son of bitch was planning to have Amelia and myself caged.”

Leroy screamed, “I had not heard that. So what are we going to do. My mom says she will beat my butt with hot irons if I don’t help you.”

Victor smiled. “Let us get back to the church and see what is going on there.”

“Okay.”

Leroy sped on pass the van and pulled in front of it. Victor took the van off auto pilot and rode Leroy’s ass.

Steed asked, “Do you trust Leroy Bare?”

“As much as I trust you.”

Steed laughed. “Yeah. I understand that. I did not like what I heard my father saying either.”

Donny said, “I hate to be a worry wart but we have got to be careful. If the space alien witches are behind this covid shit, they are no longer playing by the rules.”

Victor shook his head. “Fuck. Man. They have never played by the rules even as they demand that we do. You know that.”

“I know, but they have always tried to keep their conspiracies against humans in the shadows. They have never been so blatant with their evil.”

Steed said, “They think they have successfully used social and legacy media to turn the American people into mindless Zombies who will not question anything.”

Victor said, “Yeah, facebook has that Stepford Housewife shit going down pretty good. I’ve told mom and Judy to stay the hell off that Space Alien fuck and if I catch either one of them watching CNN I will dynamite the television.”

Steed laughed. “Judy told me. She was angry as hell at you. She said she doesn’t care if you cut off her allowance and disinherit her, you are not her boss.”

Victor asked Steed, “So how has it been working with you not taking money from your father?”

“Yeah, I stopped being retarded. I like money. I like being rich. I don’t like playing poor. I got tired of that freaking shit, man. I am back my father’s lap dog, if you haven’t noticed. Of course it is not just the money, I love my father.”

Donny laughed. “I don’t blame you for wanting the money. Just wait until you become more skilled at being a witch. You are going to love it. Well, if you don’t end up caged over a flaming fire.”

Suddenly, Madison Grant appeared in the back of the van. She could neither see nor hear the ghost Donny Maxtone. Steed saw Madison as she appeared.

“Madison, so why are you here?”

Victor glanced back to look at her. “So Alice Malokey has the two perps in her custody?”

“Yes, but look. When you get back to the church you are going to discover something that is going to make you very angry. Please do not lose your cool. Please do not go crazy.”

Donny put his hand on Victor’s shoulder. Madison could not hear Donny. “Victor, put Steed in the driver’s seat and use magic to get to the church. If someone has died we’ve got to make sure that their soul is not caged.”

Victor asked, “Who has died?”

Madison said, “Peacher Pat.”

“Son of a bitch.”

“He had a heart attack. We are sure it had nothing to do with the two men in the church.”

“Lying bitch.” Victor screamed, “Steed, you drive.” Victor did magic to put Steed in the driver’s seat of the van as Victor transported himself and Donny to the church. He appeared near a tree and walked up to Judy. Victor asked, “What is going on?”

“I don’t know. I heard someone say they found a body in the church.”

“Preacher Pat?”

Judy frowned in horror at Victor’s words. “Please don’t say that. No.”

Jack Minx walked up. Judy stared at him. She wasn’t sure what to say. She wanted to question Victor but she was afraid of how Victor might answer in front of Jack.

Victor put his arm around Jack’s shoulder. “There is no easy way to tell you this but they have murdered Preacher Pat. They are going to call it a heart attack. They are going to say it has nothing to do with the bio terror attack. Just stand strong and know that a mortal death is not the end. Our soul survives. I’ve got to go to the other side to make sure no one is able to cage Preacher Pat’s soul and I will get his soul somewhere, where I know he will be safe. Jack, please hold it together.”

Jack said, “Victor, you are talking crazy.”

Victor nodded. “I know it sounds that way.”

Victor allowed Judy and Jack to see him vanish.

Jack eyes grew wide. His mouth fell open. “Judy, did Victor just disappear into thin air.”

“I don’t fully understand things. I don’t. But yeah he just let us see him vanish into thin air.”

“How could he just vanish?”

“I don’t know but he said he is going to save the soul of Preacher Pat from being caged.”

“Caged?”

Victor Duddley and Donny Maxton, invisible to all, entered into the church by passing through the wooden doors and yellow tape as though the doors were not even there. Victor said, “I think he has left his body.”

Donny said, “I feel sure of it. It think he is this way.”

Victor nodded. “He is most likely in his office inside the church. He probably went there not knowing the church had been under attack.”

Victor and Donny walked with their feet not touching the floor. And there was music coming from somewhere.

“That music may mean a cage is being set,” Donny said.

Victor said, “I need an army.”

“Iapetus has an army but it is his army to command.”

Victor and Donny walked through the wooden doors to the Preacher’s office. Their feet lowered to the floor as they walked up to Preacher Pat who was searching his desk.

Preacher Pat looked at Victor. “I can’t find my sermon. I need to find my sermon.”

Victor pulled Preacher Pat into his arms and hugged him. “I am sorry. I am so sorry. My first thought should have been to protect you and not going after the terrorists.”

Preacher Pat stared at Victor. “Terrorists? What are you talking about?”

Victor looked down at the desk. He looked at a folder that was open. There was a picture of his mother Ellen in the folder. He noticed on the folder was written in bold letters, “Adoption File For Pat Pialo.”

Victor asked, “You were adopted?”

Preacher Pat looked at the folder. “I don’t know where that came from. I had a detective who was looking for my real mother but he had not given me that folder. I don’t know how the folder ended up on my desk.”

Donny said, “Victor, never mind that now. That music is getting louder which means the cage is getting stronger. We need to get Preacher Pat to where he will be under the protection of Iapetus.”

Victor said, “That folder does not matter now. I need to get you somewhere safe.”

Preacher Pat looked at the picture and papers in the folder. “A picture of your mom.”

Preacher Pat read, “
Mother: Ellen (last name unknown)
Father: Arthur Ramsey.”

Preacher Pat looked at Victor. “You are my half brother? Steed is my other half brother?”

Victor said, “I guess. Maybe. I don’t even know if that file is real. But I’ve got to get you somewhere safe.”

“Safe from what?”

“Listen to me. You have been murdered. Now someone may be about to cage your soul. We have got to get you somewhere safe where you can’t be caged.”

“I can’t be dead. That is crazy.”

Suddenly Madison Grant appeared in the office.

Victor asked, “Are you the one trying to cage him?”

“Don’t talk crazy. We need to get him to my space ship.”

“Can I trust you?”

Donny stated, “Of course you can not trust her.”

Suddenly Victor and Preacher Pat were on the spaceship of Madison Grant. Victor looked around. “Where is Donny? We can’t leave him down there.”

Madison said, “I didn’t even know he was with you.”

Donny appeared next to Victor. Now Madison could see him. “You know you have a bounty on your head.”

“So are you going to cage me and turn me in to the Witches Council?”

“Don’t be stupid. I am going to get you and Preacher Pat to the outlands and to the Second Realm of Iapetus.”

Preacher Pat rubbed his head. “I don’t understand. Is this a dream? I thought I was awake.”

Victor whirled his white van around the corner onto the side street and saw a red red van speed out of the back parking area of the church. Victor was right on its tail. And the chase began.

Steed asked, “How do you plan to stop the van? Do you have a gun or anything?”

“I don’t have any weapon but fist. What about you?”

Steed opened up his Sunday jacket to reveal a shoulder holster with four guns. He handed one and a thing of clips to Victor. “The clips all contain silver bullets in case we are chasing supernatural creatures.”

Suddenly a round of bullets were fired from the red van. Victor quickly swirled off to the side of the road so that bullets missed. A mail box that Victor struck with his van flew up into the air.

Victor said, “We are going to have to pull back. I was just lucky that my reflexes were good enough to dodge the bullets.”

Donny Maxtone’s ghost jumped into the back of the van. His ghost laughed. “Luck. Yeah. That is what it was. Magic had nothing to do with it.”

Steed said, “You know you do not have to pretend with me, at the moment I do know that I am a witch and that you are some kind of god.”

“Some kind of god. That is funny.”

“Why do you say that?”

“I am not a god. I am just a crazy guy that has weird dreams.”

Donny rolled his eyes.

Steed said, “Well, right now we are chasing some real men with real guns and if they have any weapons with silver bullets then they can kill us. I know the other side is all beautiful and all, or so my father says, but I am kind of liking this world right now and I do not want to die.”

“I know what you are saying. I just want to live a normal life as Victor and as a human.”

“So you know?”

“I don’t know anything except I want to catch these evil sons of bitches that we are chasing.”

“Yeah. And if they are human and don’t use magic then we will not use magic.”

Victor asked, “Do you know how to use magic?”

“Not very well. Mom and dad have started trying to teach me but most of my spells ping.”

Victor nodded. He looked into the back of the van and saw Donny. “What the fuck are you doing here man? Glad to see you.”

Steed looked back to see who Victor was talking with but did not see anyone.

Donny said, “Steed can’t see me.”

“Sure he can. Steed, look again.”

Steed saw Donny Maxtone. “You are dead.”

“Yeah, as a door nail. But dude, don’t insult me by pointing out the obvious.”

Victor asked, “What do you know about this situation?”

“Not a lot. I was at my place in Whitehead and Bare Town and was listening to Morris on the radio. He announced the situation and that you were in pursuit of whoever you caught who was in the process of of staging the bio terror attack. I thought I would pop in to see if I can help you.”

Steed asked, “Whitehead and Bare Town? Why does that place sound familiar?”

“You and Judy have a place there. You two have a nice place there.”

“Judy and I have place there. We are soul mates?”

Victor said, “You and Judy are not soul mates. Get that fuck out of your head. You and Rita also have a place. It is in Hockey Stick Town. Now you can tell me that you and Rita are soul mates.”

Steed shook his head. “Liar.” Then he thought a second. “You have to be lying. Aren’t you?”

Victor looked at Steed with an evil grin.

Donny said, “I love Hockey Stick Town. Sports Venue after Sports Arena and not just Hockey. Football. Baseball. Basketball. Water Polo. Golf. Swimming Competitions. You name it. It is there. I have so much fun when I go there. But without our gang there together, it is not quite the same.”

Victor said, “Okay. We have to concentrate on catching the bad guys. The question is, how are we going to do that.”

Steed said, “I would say approach from the back and try to bump them so they will lose control but they have some powerful weapons up there.”

Donny said, “I would pop into their vehicle but I don’t know whether they are mortal or witch or whether they have cages for ghost.”

Victor said, “No. We don’t want you being caged. That is for sure. But we have to do something.”

Steed said, “We can continue following them. See where they are going. I am going to call my father to see if he can send backup.”

***

Preacher Pat Pialo looked across his desk inside his house. “Where is my sermon? I need to make some changes. Where did I leave it?”

Preacher Pat’s cellphone began to ring. He looked to see who was calling. “What does Morris want? I don’t have time for some silly radio interview right now.” Preacher Pat did not answer his phone. “I bet my sermon is in my office at the church. I will run over there and get it.”

Victor and Stewart began to unload the tables from the white van to set up along the walkway up to the church. Every once in a while they looked over a Preacher Pat Pialo on the porch at his house. He was still eating cereal.

Stewart said, “I like this van. Can I have it? I might could use it to start doing gig deliveries.”

“No, you can not have my van and why on earth would you want to start making gig deliveries. I want to set you up in a Sporting Goods Store.”

“Oh my God. I do not want to sit in a store all fucking day long.”

“But you want to sit in a van for around minimum wage, driving packages to their destination?”

“Well, yeah.”

Victor shook his head. “What if I make you my errand boy?”

“Errand boy. That sounds rather demeaning. Now I might take a job of being Vice President of Errands. But I would still get to drive around. Right?”

“Sure.”

“Are you being serious?”

“Yes. So will you take the job?”

“What kind of money are we talking?”

“I will pay you $200,000 a year.”

“Okay.”

“Changing the subject back to what we are actually doing, we need to put up signs that tells people what is written on the mask and tell them they must take the first mask they handle. The signs are right up behind the front seat in the van. You start putting the signs up while I go inside the church to pee. I am about to piss all over myself.”

“Yeah, we don’t want you to have to turn your pants around so you are wearing them backwards to hide the wet place.”

“Was that real? Did Trump really do that?”

“I don’t know. None of the pictures actually showed where he had pissed his pants. At least none that I saw. I think it was just twitter being twitter. Stupid.”

“Yeah. He probably just put his pants on backwards after having sex in a room with no lights burning. I’ve got to run. Seriously run.”

Victor took off running.

Stewart laughed at his brother. Stewart’s sister Judy walked up with her boyfriend Steed.

Judy asked, “Why is our bro in such a run?”

“He has to pee really bad.”

“Oh.”

Steed asked, “How do you pee really badly. Miss the toilet?”

Stewart laughed. “I see why you were friends with Victor. Same sense of humor.”

Judy nodded as she looked around. “So what you and Victor doing with these tables and putting mask out. I thought Preacher Pialo was going to do a maskless service.”

“Victor convinced him to use these masks instead until less pressure would be on Mayor Bare to arrest him for a maskless service.”

Judy asked, “Preacher Pat agreed?”

“Yeah. Thank God. I did not want to see him arrested.”

Steed asked, “Have you ever been arrested?”

“No. Just the thought of being in jail terrifies me.”

Judy said, “Dad said Victor committed a felony this morning without even thinking about it. He just casually did it.”

Stewart asked, “What?”

“He put ransomware on some media company computers so that they would get and release the Fauci emails that shows Fauci knows the dime store masks are worthless.”

“I see.” Stewart asked Steed, “Have you ever committed any crimes?”

“My father is a gangster. What do you think?”

Judy looked at Steed. She was not sure what to think.

***

Victor ran into the church and into the men’s bathroom that was off the foyer as he entered the church. He ran to the urinal and unzipped his pants and pulled out his monster. He began to pee. As he was peeing he heard some noise in the church.

“Come on you damn dick, let it flow and let me finish before I am retirement age.”

Victor finished. He put his monster away. He zipped himself. He washed his hands. He left the bathroom and walked beyond the foyer to inside of the church. He saw two men wearing Hazmat Suits and spraying something on the pews.

Victor called out to them. “What are you two doing?”

“We are disinfecting the church before services begin.”

“Who hired you to do this?”

“Mayor Hollis Bare.”

Victor pulled out his cellphone. He called Mayor Hollis. “Did you or anyone in your office hire anyone to spray disinfectant in the church?”

“Why?”

“I just found two men spraying the church. They are wearing Hazmat Suits. Why would you spray a church on a Sunday right before services with a chemical that requires a Hazmat Suit.”

“Let me call Daniel and make sure that he did not hire someone in my name because sometimes that boy just does not think right.”

Suddenly the men threw their spraying devices down and they start running toward a back entrance to the church.”

“God damn. They are on the run. Get a real Hazmat team here to see what the fuck they have been spraying. I am going to be in chase.” Victor shoved his phone into his pocket. He turned to run out the front of the church. He screamed to Stewart as he ran toward him and the van. “The church has been poisoned with a bio terror weapon. Don’t go inside. Don’t let anyone else inside. I was talking to the Mayor when they took off running. But call him to coordinate blocking the church off.”

Stewart watched Victor jumping into his van. Steed ran to the other door and jumped into the van with Victor. Judy called a friend a local radio station.

Judy said, “Morris. There has been a bio terror attack at Preacher Pat’s church. Start warning people to stay out of the area.”

“Are you serious?”

“Mayor Hollis is on the phone with Stewart right now. Victor and Steed are in pursuit of the men who were caught spraying the church with something.”

“Steed. Wait. Are you back with him?”

“Morris. Concentrate. Bio terror attack. Church. Warn people.”

“Right. Right. Right.”

Judy hung the phone up. Stewart said, “Daniel has been notified to start blocking the roads off.”

Stewart looked over to where Preacher Pat had been eating his cereal. He was no longer sitting on the porch. “Oh my God. Where did Preacher Pat go? Please don’t be in the church.”

Judy said, “You do realize our brother was just in the church.”

“I know but I can not undo that. I need to find Preacher Pat.”

“Call him.”

“Sure. I will call him. I will call him.”

Victor told Preacher Pat Pialo that he and Stewart would go on over to the church and begin setting up the tables where people could get their face masks. Preacher Pat Pialo nodded as he ate on his bowl of cereal.

Stewart smiled. “You are seriously loving that cereal.”

“When I am nervous I eat like I am starved. It is a wonder I don’t weigh a thousand pounds.”

Stewart said, “Since this covid shit I have put on some weight but you are looking good.”

Victor said, “He is Jack’s.”

“I am not gay. How many times do I have to tell you, I like women. I may not have too much luck with them, but they do get my dick hard.”

Victor grinned. “They should put that Valentine’s Day cards. ‘I Love You Because You Get My Dick Hard.”

Preacher Pialo stared at Victor. “You really are the devil, aren’t you.”

Victor laughed.

Stewart said, “I had a dream where Victor was telling me that Jesus Christ is his higher brother. He went into some shit about being spawned or some crap. It was a weird dream.”

An image flashed in the mind of Preacher Pialo of standing with Victor at a scene from Jesus being crucified. Preacher Pialo shook the image from his mind. “Victor, who do you think Jesus was?”

“His soul is a spark from God herself. He is a great soul just as Buddah is a great soul. But his story, the true story of Jesus was hijacked by a subset of Jews to bring Rome down just as they are trying to bring the United States down. But don’t confuse that subset of Jews with the good Jews and make no mistake there are a lot of good men and women among that population.”

Preacher Pialo said, “Jesus was Jewish.”

“No. In that incarnation he and his cousin John were mostly Sumerian born to the outer tribes that maintained their secret identities long after their people, the Sumerian people, were defeated by the Jews. Joseph was Jewish but the Virgin Mary was mostly Sumerian.”

“She was from the Jewish Tribe of Levi.”

“No. She was not. She was Sumerian. See, the Jewish myth that was created does not even keep the tribes straight. They try to say that Jesus was from the Tribe of Judah. But he was not. He was mostly Sumerian. The remnants of the Tribe of Benjamin and the remnants from the Sumerians lived together and so if it can be said Jesus came from any tribe, he came from the tribe of Benjamin which had been decimated into oblivion by the other tribes. The bloodline of Saul became mixed with the Sumerians and so if it can be said that ancestral line of Jesus came from a former King of Israel it would have been King Saul. It sure as hell would not have been from that bastard, King David.”

“You don’t like the historical figure, King David.”

“Saul was a kind King. When his armies went in, he left the villages with enough to survive. King David went in to destroy villages. He massacred people for pleasure. He was a murderous asshole.”

Stewart asked, “Where do you read this shit at? It is not like any religious text I have ever read.”

“Sure. I read it somewhere. Who knows where.”

Preacher Pialo and Stewart stared at Victor with a puzzled look. He contradicted their beliefs, and that bothered them. But still, they did not want to enter religious debate with him.

Still, Preacher Pialo could not contain himself. “So you don’t believe in the bible.”

“I believe in the truth and not some fabrication by the Jew to destroy the Roman Empire. I believe in the true Christ and make no mistake the truth is more compelling to who Jesus was in that incarnation than the Jewish fabrication. His incarnation sure as hell was not intended to create an age of ignorance, the Dark Ages, for all of Europe. His intent was to help mankind find grace and redemption and find our way out of this prison we call Earth. His incarnation sure as hell was not intended to help the Jew create a worse hell on earth so as to torture the gentiles.”

Stewart asked, “Victor, are you anti-semitic?”

“I am anti-ignorance. But like I said, there are a lot of good people among the Jewish population and we have to remember that even as we face there are also a lot of evil people among that population. They are like every population. There is the good, the bad, and the ugly and allowing the Evil Ones to hide behind their religion, whatever the religion, is not acceptable. And the politicians who want to protect the Evil Ones just because they pretend to be religious or are hiding behind their religion need to all be voted out of office.”

Victor walked into the kitchen. His father was sitting at a table. He looked up from his laptop computer at his son.

“Stewart is worried about you. And he is upset that you were not tough enough with the mayor.”

Victor walked to the refrigerator and opened the door. He knelt down and looked inside. He retrieved a beer from the top shelf. He closed the door. He popped the tab of the beer. He took a long, hard drink. He sat down next to his father. “May I use your computer for a moment.”

“I guess. Why?”

Victor took the computer. He began typing.

Elliot looked to see what his son was doing. “You are using my computer to put a ransom ware virus on media computers?”

“I am giving them ten days to request and make public the Fauci emails. They will not be able to track what I did back to you.”

“What do you think will be in Fauci emails?”

“He originally said that wearing dime store masks was pointless. Then after he got an invitation from the Trilateral Commission he started pushing the narrative to wear a mask. There should be something about all that in the emails. Now if I can convince Preacher Pat to hold off on his stand against face masks until the emails are released.”

“You are sure they will not be able to trace what you did back to us.”

“They will not know.”

“Son, that you can commit a felony with such ease bothers me.”

“Yeah. It is all just a dream anyway.”

Elliot stared at Victor. He shook his head. He said nothing.

Ellen walked into the kitchen. “My. You two are up early.”

Victor stood up. His kissed his mom on the cheek. “Love you.”

Ellen smiled at her son. “Back at you.”

“Well, I need to go talk to Preacher Pat. Do you think Stewart will want to go with me?”

Elliot said, “Yeah. He was almost crying when he was telling me how Preacher Pat might get arrested by Daniel Bare. You know, some people take the threat of being arrested seriously.”

“Some people.” Victor grinned. “Daniel is an asshole. Mayor Hollis is a good guy but for some reason there was a lot of pressure being put on him to have Daniel arrest Preacher Pat. Well, let me go see if I can wake Stewart up.”

Victor left the kitchen.

Ellen and Elliot looked at one another.

****

Preacher Pat was sitting on his front porch in a green rocking chair. He was wearing a robe that was most open to reveal his pink, blue bubbles with hearts, pajamas. Victor and Stewart walked up. Victor and Stewart were each holding a large box. Preacher Pat stared at them.

Preacher Pat said, “Victor, you aren’t going to talk me out of taking a stand. I am tired of this totalitarian bullshit. We’ve got to take a stand. It begins by just saying no to the face masks.”

Victor said, “Give me a couple of weeks and I will prove the face masks are a bunch of Trilateral Commission bullshit. But I need time.”

Stewart stared at Preacher Pat. “Do you sleep in pajamas?”

“I never know when I am going to get a late night visitor.”

Stewart smiled. “Jack.”

Preacher Pat laughed. “No. Not that kind of visit. I am always here for the people of my church when they need to visit me to talk. My door is always open.”

Victor nodded. “So will you give me a couple of weeks.”

“A few days ago I got a call. The person was upset. They were not really talking much sense. They hung up on me. I guess they didn’t think I was talking much sense either. At first I was kind of angry at the conversation. I felt they had been so rude to me. Then I got to thinking that was not like them. I thought on it some more and I got worried. I decided I needed to go see them. Then I realized I was out of face masks. I was thinking, ‘Oh, I got to wear a face mask when I visit members of my congregation. That is where my mind was.’ So I went to the store to buy some before I went to check on the person I had been talking with. When I got to the person’s house they were being put into an ambulance. Luckily a neighbor had shown more concern than me and they were gotten out of the garage before the fumes from the running car killed them. But if I been the only person who might have saved them, they would have died. And partly because I had to go buy a damned face mask that doesn’t work. It serves no purpose. It is stupid.”

Victor said, “I agree with you. But if you take a stand today, you are going to go to jail. Instead, give out the face masks we have in these boxes.”

“Give out free face masks. Are you insane? I am not doing that. I don’t want to ever see a face mask again.”

Victor sat the box down on a step up to Preacher Pat’s porch. He pulled out a knife and cut the tape that sealed the box. He opened the box. He pulled a face mask from the box and handed it to Preacher Pat.

Preacher Pat took the face mask and looked at it. On the front of it read, “This mask does not work.”

Victor handed another mask to Preacher Pat. On the front it read, “Fauci Works for Satan.” Victor said, “There are also masks where you can use a marker to write whatever you want, such as a proverb. I talked to Mayor Hollis and he liked the idea.”

Preacher Pat smiled. “Okay. But next month, I want these masks gone.”

“I understand. Hopefully by then enough pressure will have been taken off of Mayor Hollis so there will be no chance of you being arrested. You know Jack and Stewart love you and that means I love you. We don’t want you hurt. And I know you don’t want members of your congregation hurt.”

“Of course I don’t.”
