Chapter 2
Note: In the original Billy Bingo: Sexual Blackmail I jumped forward fairly quickly. In this rewrite version I hope to bring the characters and the events better into focus..
Mary Aghar came into work at the Jenkins’ mansion. Her daughter Rachel likes to call her mother a maid when she wants to piss her mother off. But Mary guesses there is some truth to it, although she is a very well paid maid. Mary oversees the household staff at the Jenkins’ Mansion. Although David has an assistant/secretary at his office, he still uses Mary at times as a Corporate Assistant as well. She isn’t really a maid although she has been known to mop a floor or clean the kitchen when one of the staff needs a day off or when she wants to get away from her desk work or she has nothing else to do.
Mary has her own office in the basement of the mansion that is off from the recreation room, off from the pool showers, and off from the outdoor Olympic size pool and tennis courts. Around the recreation area are gardens that Mary likes viewing through the large picture window in her office.
Mary settles into her office when Jackie Jenkins comes through the large green door with some coffee for the both of them. Jackie is David’s girlfriend and Mary thinks she seems nice enough although after just five dates she has begun to come into the mansion like she owns the place.

Jackie sits down in the large black chair on the other side of Mary’s large executive desk beside the picture window. Jackie asks, “How is you daughter Rachel doing?”
Mary stares at Jackie. She is not sure that she has ever mentioned Rachel to Jackie. She guesses that David might have mentioned her. “Rachel is doing well. She has become best friends with a girl by the name of Bess Bingo who dates a boy by the name of George Destone. He is the nephew of David’s secretary, Marge Destone. I like Bess but I wish George would stay away from both girls.”
Jackie smiles. “Marge is a hard one to figure. One day she is friendly and the next day she might be cold as ice. I’ve seen George at the Destone Garage with Kane Bishop. Kane, now, there is a dangerous man.”
Mary says, “I’ve never met Kane. Is he another one, like George, who goes down to Dutch Gay Biker Bar to trade kisses for money?”
Jackie says, “Kane is bisexual but he would hardly need to trade kisses for money. He would be more likely to give George money to suck his dick or for George to allow Kane to pound his ass. Myrtle Claven is Kane’s mother. Myrtle Claven is the one who decorated this mansion.”
Mary nods. “I am familiar with Myrtle but I have never met her son.”
“Duh, of course you would know Myrtle.”
“We aren’t exactly best friends for life but I am familiar with her and I do like her. And her daughter Linda Webster is as sweet as she can be. I am surprised that you know she decorated this mansion. Have you discussed redecorating the place with either Myrtle or David?”
Jackie says, “No. Though a bit of redecoration might be a good idea. But that is something you should discuss with David and not me.”
Mary appreciates that Jackie has shown respect for her job. “I have in the past suggested to David that this place needs some sprucing up. But you know David’s deceased wife Amberline Darko helped Myrtle decorate the place and the subject of change was a sore spot at the time.”
Jackie says, “Well just mention some rooms need a fresh coat of paint and then you and I can go from there in bringing Myrtle in for some ideas on how to update the décor and look of the different rooms. What do you think?”
Mary says, “We can try. You are a sign that David is ready to move on.”
Jackie says, “No. I think you are wrong on that. The only woman who might be able to replace Amberline Darko would be Amberline Darko. But that is okay. I respect the undying love that David has for his dead wife.”
Mary says “Well. Their marriage was not perfect. She cheated on him and he cheated on her. I have no doubt that he loved her deeply but I think the feelings of guilt may have something to do with his resistance to change.”
Jackie says, “He told me that he cheated on her with Myrtle Claven’s then husband; Saloman Claven. I made clear to him that our relationship should be an open relationship. It is not cheating if the permission is understood.”
Mary says, “I only knew that he had cheated. I did not know with whom.”
Jackie asks, “Does it bother you that David cheated with a man? To be clear, bisexuality does not bother me. I’ve had sex with women.”
Mary says, “As have I.”
Jackie smiles. “If only it would not be too awkward with David for us, wink, wink, you know.”
Mary nods. “Understood. David and I have always kept our relationship business like. I loved Amberline like a sister but David and I have always been more business than pleasure.”
Jackie says, “I would like for you to think of me as a sister.”
Mary says, “No doubt, an older sister who bosses me around.”
Jackie asks, “Have I done anything to be bossy? I know David is your boss. I am not.”
Mary says, “No. Not at all. That was a bitchy thing for me to say though I was not thinking of any accusation when I said it. I just know that you could boss me if you so wanted. I know my station in life.”
Jackie says, “Though David does depend on you to run the house and to make sure young Dirk is being treated properly, and he uses you in business, I know he does think the world of you and I know Amberline thought the world of you. Given how important you are around here, I don’t like being distant from you. I truly want us to be friends.”
Mary silently wonders to herself, “Did Jackie know Amberline to actually know how she felt?” Mary stares in puzzlement at Jackie and considers that Jackie has suggested they be friends. Mary says “I would like for us to be friends but I confess that I can not remember your last name.”
Jackie says, “I don’t think we have ever formerly been introduced. I am Jackie Dubois of the New Orleans Dubois family. If you are like some of the staff and think I am after David for his money, to be clear, I have more money than David.”
Mary laughs. “Yeah. Right now. I have more money than David. He hasn’t been able to pay himself a salary in over a year. Now that I think about his finances we might should hold off on decoration plans for this place”
Jackie nods. “So what you are saying is that he may be after my money. I am okay with that. And I will pay for any cost to decorate this place.”
David stands in front of a TV with a VCR hooked up to it. He turns on a porn tape. In the porn movie there are three young men playing in a pond though they have not begun to have sex. There is a knock on the door to David’s office. It is his secretary, Marge Destone.
“Mr. Jenkins, Saloman Claven is here to see you. He does not have an appointment.”
David quickly turns the VCR off. He looks down to make sure that his partial erection does form an obvious outline or form a bulge in his pants. Then he unlocks and opens the door.
“Hello Saloman, I am kind of surprised to see you. Actually I am kind of surprised that I would ever see you again.”
“I am no longer angry that you destroyed my marriage. I pride myself on being a forgiving soul.”
David says, “Yeah, sure. You are a regular saint. Why are you here?”
“I understand that you are missing payrolls. The word is that you are broke. I am willing to buy Jenkins Oil and make you a rich man again.”
David says, “So you have the oil refineries boycotting my crude and you think that I am going to reward you. You can go to hell.”
“Now David, don’t be that way. Jenkins Oil would not exist if it were not for me.”
“Amberline’s brother Quentin Darko helped me get Jenkins Oil off the ground.”
“Yeah, but I am the one who got you the government contract and helped you cut through the red tape so that you could drill in the Gulf of Mexico. We were friends. I would like for us to be friends again. I help friends.”
“Then help me save Jenkins Oil. Don’t try to buy it out from under me in a distress sale.”
Saloman says, “I need oil for a refinery I have down in Belize.”
“There is no way you can get the permits to transfer the oil to Belize.”
“If you are willing for a few laws to be broken and are willing to take the risk I’d be willing to let you keep ownership of Jenkins Oil.”
“From Belize you want to smuggle the refined oil to rebels or rebel countries where the state department will not give you the permits to directly ship. Am I reading the situation correctly?”
“OPEC has put a boycott against the United States and in turn the United States has banned all exports of oil. The coup that brought down Richard Nixon and put that damn Gerald Ford into power has hurt me.”
“Well, the OPEC oil embargo makes the domestic market a rich market if oil refiners weren’t shutting me out. And domestically I would not have to break any laws.”
“I will provide you a refinery for the domestic market if you will also supply my Belize refinery.”
“And where would the product be shipped to from Belize?”
“Mainly Israel and South Africa.”
“Honestly?”
“Honestly. And although it will be illegal, the operation is backed by some in the government.”
“Okay. I think we can deal.”
“Do you need to consult with Quentin Darko?”
“Yes. And besides my lawyers, his lawyers will need to see the agreement. The domestic refinery will need to be spelled out. The Belize refinery should simply read the refinery of your choice. The lawyers don’t need to know any of the details of our side agreement though I will tell Quentin.”
“Quentin and I generally understand each other and we don’t often butt heads. I am okay with Quentin knowing. This is all working out better than I had expected. I was dreading come here for fear that you hate me and that we would fight.”
“After Amberline died and Frank Bingo stopped me from killing myself I tried calling you at your office and for some reason Myrtle answered the phone. When I heard her voice it was like there was some higher force at work. I was messed up but honest to God I have no idea why I even said what I said. It was like there was someone else talking through my mouth. But once the confession of our affair was said I could not undo or deny my words. I did not mean to hurt you. Honest to God I did not mean to hurt you.”
Saloman stared at David. “I never let you tell me the details of the call where you told Myrtle of our affair. I did not know that you had tried to kill yourself after Amberline’s death.”
“If it was not for Frank Bingo making clear I have to stay alive for my son Dirk, I would not have survived those dark days after Amberline’s death during childbirth. I was weak. And I felt so guilty that I had not been a better husband.”
“I should have been there for you but I was so angry. Myrtle was, Myrtle is, the love of my life. That does not mean that you were nothing. You were important to me. I am glad Frank Bingo was there to save you and remind you that you have to be there for your son Dirk. By the way, how is Dirk doing?”
“He is doing good. He is a teenager now. His Uncle Quentin takes up time with him. And Mary Aghar also gives him advice.”
Saloman Claven wants to ask David if Dirk has shown any signs of being a witch but he knows that David’s memory has been erased of knowing anything about the witch world. He guesses if his curiosity on the subject remains so strong, that conversation about whether Dirk is a witch or not is a conversation better had with Quentin.
David asks, “How is Myrtle doing?”
Saloman said, “She is good. Like I said, I will always love her but she can drive me crazy. And I love her children like they are my own but Kane is not an easy person to love. He and Myrtle are butting heads a lot and they want to drag me into the middle of their arguments most of which center on his girlfriend. I have to agree with Myrtle that his girlfriend Alicia is a piece of work; Satan’s work. Then again I’d like to say she is a bad influence on him but it is hard to say who is the worst influence on who. He is running a motorcycle gang and he is part owner in the Dutch Gay Biker Bar. Of course you know how Myrtle feels about gay men; especially after the affair between the two of us. I tried to explain to her that bisexuality is more normal that heterosexuality and you’d thought I’d thrown scalding hot water on her. She started screaming at me, telling me, that it will be a gay witch who will take control of a company that will become the first trillion dollar company and aligned with a third power—an enemy of the United States–who will pose the greatest threat to the free world since Hitler.”
“Gay witch? Trillion dollar company? She believes that?”
“I know. Trillion dollar company. Right? Sounds silly. Like the government would be so stupid they would not have the sense to break that sucker up before it could crash the economy.”
David smiled. “But can you imagine running a trillion dollar company? Just the thought of such an accomplishment makes my dick hard.”
Saloman said, “I would like to have a trillion dollars but no, a trillion dollar company would be like Frankenstein’s monster. Myrtle is right about that. It would be a dire threat to us as a nation and for all my faults, I am a patriot. I love America.”
David said, “I guess such a company would be dangerous.” David thought a second. “Our conspiring together will not be dangerous. Will it?”
Saloman said, “A little danger is not a bad thing.”
