Chapter 7
Eighteen year old Judy Duddley drove into the lot of the Hearthville Garage where her boyfriend, Steed Ramsey worked. Though unknown to Judy, Steed was rich. He was trying to prove he could be more self-reliant and not depend on an allowance from his trust fund. As a result Judy thought Steed was poor.
Judy had no idea who Steed was. She didn’t know that he was Mark Ramsey or that his father was the gangster Arthur Ramsey or that his mother Rachel was in the Hearthville Mental Institution. She didn’t know that Steed was one and the same person as Victor’s friend Mark Ramsey. In just the last couple of years Mark had changed in appearance. His hair was longer as he now kept it. He was more muscular. His hair was more blond where it had been more a cross between a dark sandy brown and sandy blond. Also Mark had been Victor’s friend and not hers. To Judy it was not rememberable if she had ever heard Mark speak more than the casual hello or goodbye. It was not as unusual that Judy did not recognize Steed as being Mark as it was that Victor did not recognize him. Whether from a supernatural cause or a psychological cause Victor did not much remember Mark.
Judy was somewhat reserved. She was very smart. Having two brothers she was also tough, though her small size in height and frame caused the ill informed to think otherwise; especially when eyeing her beauty. She had long black hair that naturally curled at the ends though sometimes she helped with the natural curl. She had deep blue eyes that at times had a cheerful sparkle while at other times had a rather penetrating look as though she could see right through a person.
Judy’s boyfriend Steed (Mark) was handsome with long blond hair, a slender though muscular build, and was taller than Judy but not nearly as tall as her brother Stewart. There was something about Steed that reminded Judy of the Eric Northman character on True Blood. Her brother Stewart never seemed to much like or dislike her boyfriends but her brother Victor often took a quick and natural dislike to whomever she was seeing. Still, she was surprised that Victor did not like Steed. She thought the dislike was strange because they had a fair amount in common. For example they both liked to work on cars. Regardless, Victor called Steed a halfwit who worked for a garage known to treat people badly. As stated, Victor had no idea that Steed was Mark. Victor had little clue about his past friendship with Mark.

In the beginning, Judy wasn’t overly serious about her relationship with Steed. She doubted he would ever strike it rich and she seriously wanted herself a rich husband. Still, he was sexy and he took her to fairly nice places despite his seeming poverty. She had figured he didn’t see their relationship going to the next level, the same as her, since he had not introduced her to his family. But lately he had began to bring up the subject of sex.
Hearthville was a small town in many ways even though it did have the college and the lake which attracted tourists. Steed did have family in the smallish town of Hearthville and some people did know who he was. Still, Steed was mostly a stranger to many in the town because that is the way he wanted it. He wanted people to think he was new to the town. He did not want people to connect him to Arthur and Rachel and Clarice. With his change in appearance and intentional anonymity, so far no one had told Judy who Steed was. Steed liked it that way. Still, at the same time it bothered Steed that Victor did not know who he was. To Steed that was both convenient and troubling.
Judy had met Steed at the Hearthville Garage when she was having trouble getting the gas pump to work at the garage where he was employed. She was impressed by how he was able to get the main computer terminal back to working when the manager had been unable to succeed in getting the pump to pump gas. To meet Steed again she took her car back there to get her oil changed. That angered Victor who told her that she was just throwing money away. He made clear that he was glad to change her oil for free.
Judy got out of her black Buick Skyhawk and walked up to Steed who was trying to finish up repairing a flat. The garage was empty except for the two of them. Steed stepped toward Judy and away from the car where he had been working. He asked, “So have you made your decision yet?”
Judy said, “I am not ready to have sex with you.”
“You don’t find me sexy.”
“Of course I find you sexy; in both body and mind. But I am not yet ready to have sex with anyone.”
“You are eighteen. Of course you are ready.”
“Our relationship is not at a point where I feel comfortable becoming that intimate with you.”
“I can not keep dating someone who refuses to have sex with me.” Steed grabbed Judy into his arms. He kissed her. She liked the kiss. He kissed her again. “I think once you have sex with me you will wonder why you wanted to wait.”
Judy pushed Steed away. “The most I will do is give you a hand-job.”
“I can give myself a hand-job. Aren’t you curious to what it will feel like to have my cock inside of you?”
“Our relationship is not yet at that point. I don’t want to have sex with someone and then weeks follow where they never call me again.”
“Do you think I would do that?”

“I don’t know but we have only dated for three weeks.”
“It has been a great three weeks. I’ve had a lot of fun with you but I want to have sex. Three weeks seems plenty of enough time to wait before going to the next level.”
“Sex is not the next level. Your sharing more about who you are and introducing me to your family is the next level.
Steed felt a quick sinking feeling in his gut. He liked Judy not knowing who he was. He mumbled, “You do not want to meet my family.”
“I am pretty sure that I do. But okay, just tell me something more about yourself. For example, how many women have you bedded?”
Steed stood silent. He wondered what Judy would think of him if he lied and told her that he was also a virgin. He had dated his last girlfriend for 2 months and she had also refused to have sex with him. At this moment he did sort of feel like a virgin but still a lie is a lie.

Steed thought back to that strange girl he had dated while trying to get over a broken heart. There toward the end of their relationship she had confessed to him that she considered sex with anyone as gross. He wasn’t totally sure whether she really considered sex with anyone as gross or just sex with him as gross. Steed thought hard on what he should tell Judy but then he clearly said the wrong thing. “Kissing and telling is kind of personal. Isn’t it?”
Judy said, “Sex is kind of personal. It is not supposed to be anonymous. I know very little about you.”
Steed said, “You are right. Look.” He tried to make his words sound sincere. He even aimed to sound sad; maybe even a little pitiful as he lied. “I’ve only had one other girlfriend in my life and she also refused to have sex with me. I am a virgin. I am inexperienced. Sex with me will probably be the worst sex you will ever have in your life.”
Judy touched Steed’s face. “We both can wait.” She wasn’t totally sure that Steed was being honest with her. She had another boyfriend tell her that he was a virgin and she knew from his past girlfriend that was a lie. She said, “Some guys consider telling inexperienced women that they are also a virgin as a come on line.”
Steed shrugged. He nodded in appreciation that Judy was not gullible to his lie. “I am not sure I can wait.” He hated his own words but he felt with at least those words he was being honest.
Judy was not sure whether his nod was a confession to his lie or a simple agreement that some men lie. Still, she knew he was being truthful when he said that he was not sure that he could wait.
Steed reached out to Judy but she pulled away. She said nothing and he said nothing more as they stared at one another. Then in silence Judy walked back to her car. Steed started to run after her but he didn’t. He stood still as he watched her drive off.
Steed thought about the last woman with whom he’d been intimate. He had thought theirs was true love; but then the relationship had ended very badly. She had betrayed him and broken his heart so he guessed he respected Judy for not so easily surrendering to her feelings. He considered that maybe it was good that Judy wanted to take things slowly. Then he remembered that is what he had told himself when dating his last girlfriend. He prayed Judy was not playing him along and then just to end their dating the way his last girlfriend had done.
Steed moaned, “God, I am so fucking horny.” He thought, “Maybe I need to threaten to breakup with Judy. Hell, maybe I need to actually breakup with her. I am nice looking. Surely there is some woman–who is not attracted to my father–who would want to have sex with me.”
Steed moved to lean back against the car. He shook his head. He thought, “But damn it, I have real feelings for Judy. I don’t want to breakup with her. Still, maybe I should. Maybe Tabitha is right. Maybe I need to stay away from the Duddley family.”
Steed thought about Rita’s accusation that he was dating Judy to again be close to Victor. He thought about helping Elliot putting a drunken Victor to bed and accidentally seeing Victor’s huge cock. Steed remembered when he and Victor would skinny dip together. He remembered how he had so strongly denied having gay feelings for Victor when there were suggestions. He knew he did have feelings for Victor but he thought, “It is not what Rita tried to say or made mom think. Those feelings are not gay.” Steed pounded his fist on the side of the car he was leaning against. “Why doesn’t Victor remember me?” Then Steed threw his head back. “I am not using Judy to get close to Victor, am I? My desire to have sex with Judy is because of my feelings for her. I am not trying to prove anything, am I?”
Steed finished repairing the flat and then closed the garage up. He punched his time card and exited through the back of the garage. He then walked to the parking area in the front of the garage where his car was parked. He normally parked in the back but today he had parked in the front.
