Roman Reigns
His real name is Joe.
He is a famous wrestler for the WWE.
And he has Leukemia.
Born as Leati Joseph Anoaʻi May 25, 1985, he is an American professional wrestler and a former professional football player from 2007 to 2009. After college football at Georgia Tech he first tried with the Minnesota Vikings and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Then he went to the Canadian Football League where he played for the Edmonton Eskimos. But the WWE was in his family genes and in his destiny, so in 2010 that is where his life choice proudly took him.
He is part of the Anoaʻi family and is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the Raw brand under the ring name Roman Reigns. He is currently on hiatus due to an ongoing battle with leukemia.
The Anoaʻi family, originating from American Samoa, is a family of professional wrestlers. Family members have comprised several tag teams and stables within a variety of promotions. Famous members of the family include Rikishi, Umaga, Yokozuna, Roman Reigns and The Usos. (also spelled Ussos)
Leukemia is not genetic and the exact cause of this cancer is unknown. Cases can be isolated and studies have shown that cases have appeared in statistical clusters. I had a High School friend who died from Leukemia before graduating but as far as I know his case was isolated. That said, many of the kids I went to school with did not have a long life expectancy rate. We were a sickly bunch. Many of us lived on property that was a former military base or near said. To whether there is any connection, who knows.
To where Leukemia was once considered a death sentence, remissions and survival rates are now pretty good. No one should count Roman Reigns completely out of the ring yet.
