Obama pretends to be one thing but then reveals himself with his bad teeth statementSam’s Club Will Layoff About 2,300 Employees Sam’s Club, the membership-only warehouse unit owned by Walmart, is laying off about 2,300 employees in its largest wave of job cuts in four years, the Wall Street Journal reports. It is one of several retail chains to announce steep job cuts in January. The layoffs come amid an effort to compete with rival Costco and online competition like Amazon, which has its own club-like service called Amazon Prime. Assistant managers will comprise nearly half the layoffs as the unit looks to slim down its managerial staff. _________ Laying off Middle Management is one of those huge mistakes that businesses have been making since the 1980's. Everyone hates middle management. That is understandable but they are necessary to keep the Upper Management honest and the employees honest. Then the businesses make the matters even worse by starting some kind of team bullshit which pits employees against one another and creates poor worker morale. The team concept does NOT motivate workers to work harder. It is like "shut the fuck up, I am taking my coffee break, and if you don't like it I will charge you with sexual harassment." You need middle management to tell workers no. You need middle management to go above their boss's head to let the big brass know how badly even the boss is fucking up. Of course people hate middle management because one of the main jobs of middle management is to not let people get by with shit and people like to get by with shit. |
Hard disk drive data obliteration: has the data really been destroyed? Kroll Ontrack found that 60% of computers processed by so-called data-removal specialists still contained data from the previous owner when it released them for sale on the second-hand market. It also recovered data from a cracked and singed hard drive that fell to Earth from the Space Shuttle Columbia. Even when a hard drive is shattered, a piece of it the size of a fingernail holds more than 100Gb of readable information. Anyone who mounts that shard and scans it can access the information. Article: http://www.information-age.com/it-management/risk-and-compliance/123457625/hard-disk-drive-data-obliteration-has-data-really-been-destroyed __________ Yeah, well, I am not so lucky in trying to recover harddrive data from a failed harddrive. :( If you are selling a computer, it is best to replace the harddrive with a new one. It is best to never sell a used harddrive or throw a computer away that has a used harddrive. |
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has introduced new 12-core and 16-core processors to its Opteron 6300 Series of server chips. The Opteron 6338P and 6370P processors are software- and socket-compatible with systems and boards supporting existing Opteron 6300 Series chips. "With the continued move to virtualised environments for more efficient server utilization, more and more workloads are limited by memory capacity and I/O bandwidth," Suresh Gopalakrishnan, corporate vice president and general manager of AMD's Server Business Unit, said in a statement. "The Opteron 6338P and 6370P processors are server CPUs optimised to deliver improved performance per-watt for virtualized private cloud deployments with less power and at lower cost points." |
HP brings back Windows 7 'by popular demand' A new promotion, designed to entice people to select Windows 7 over Windows 8 with $150 of "savings," has launched on HP’s website with a "back by popular demand" slogan. The move is clearly designed to position Windows 7 over Microsoft’s touch-centric Windows 8 operating system. HP’s "back by popular demand" wording is a clear knock towards Windows 8 which has struggled with perception issues thanks to what some see as a confusing mix of desktop and tablet-style computing. Microsoft has tweaked some parts of the OS with Windows 8.1, but it looks like Windows 9 will bring more significant changes and a move away from the Windows 8 branding. ________ Oddly the comment section of the article I read seemed to be trying to promote Windows 8. I found the comments rather odd. I actually wondered if some of them had ever even used Windows 8. The problem is more than the problem some people have with the menu structure. On my Dell Windows 8 the cursor is weird. It changes position for no reason which increases errors. At times the cursor hides or locks down which makes me wonder if I am back on Windows 3.1. My understanding is that computers with Windows 8 are hard coded to try to prevent the booting to other Operating Systems or even to make a restore difficult. (Not sure about that. May depend on computer.) Java keeps telling me that it wants to update but the update always fails. I haven't had the time to investigate what the heck that is about. Some people in the comment section attempted to say that Windows 8 is faster than Windows 7. I disagree. I would guess those people bought a Windows 8 computer where the computer itself is a lot quicker. My Windows 7 Acer (that had a hard drive failure) & my Windows 8 Dell are basically equivalent with computer resources, but theWindows 7 was a lot faster. Of course the problem may not be totally Windows 8 but some crapware that Dell has running in the background which may also be responsible for some of the other problems. When I replaced the hard drive on my Acer I installed Ubuntu on it. It is quicker than the Windows 8 Dell. The Menu Structure on Windows 8 is not that difficult to use but I don't like Windows 8. |
Obama pretends to be one thing but then reveals himself with his bad teeth statement Article: Obama: Pot ‘not very different’ from cigarettes, no more dangerous than booze The article on this sounded okay up until the end of it and then Obama repeated that big fucking lie. If somebody says, ‘We’ve got a finely calibrated dose of meth, it isn’t going to kill you or rot your teeth.’ Are we OK with that?” When someone makes that kind of statement it creates the stereotype that everyone with bad teeth is on drugs. That perception is not just wrong. It is evil. Everyone with bad teeth does NOT do Meth. Some people have bad teeth because of poor health that has nothing to do with drug use. Some people have bad teeth because they don't go to a dentist because of poverty. Some people have bad teeth because again they have health problems that the dentist may aggravate. Some people have bad teeth because they are old and don't have $2 million in the bank to buy perfect looking new teeth. Some people have bad teeth because of genetics. Mr. Obama also took aim at the uneven arrest statistics regarding marijuana, saying poor and minority kids face much stiffer penalties for smoking pot than middle-class children. And then the ignorant piece of shit repeated the big lie on bad teeth that is used to justify police harrassing poor and sick people, assuming they are on drugs when they are not. When Obama pretends that he is offended by the police harrassing poor people, he is lying. He does NOT give a fuck. Obama pretends to be one thing but then reveals himself with his bad teeth statement. He does not care about the poor or minorities. He simple hates middle class people even more than he hates the poor. Basically before the coming elections, Obama is pretending to be open to the legalization of pot. He pretends to be open to legalization while he and Eric Holder have done things repeatedly to show they are in favor of the continued police state and maintaining the largest fucking prison population on the face of earth. With politicans like Obama, the promise of freedom is just another lie told to get votes. He does not want to reduce the number of poor people in prisons. He wants to increase the number of middle class kids in prison. He and Eric Holder want to increase the prison population even more. That is his true "economic solution" to the economic disaster that his rich friends have created in America. |

Controversial execution in Ohio uses new drug combination with an awful result Ohio inmate Dennis McGuire appeared to gasp and convulse for roughly 10 minutes before he finally died Thursday during his execution by lethal injection using a new combination of drugs, reporters who witnessed it said. European-based manufacturers banned U.S. prisons from using their drugs in executions -- among them, Danish-based Lundbeck, which manufactures pentobarbital. He was convicted in 1994 of the rape and murder of 22-year-old Joy Stewart, who was seven months pregnant. Her relatives were at Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville to witness his death, according to tweets from television reporter Sheila Gray. McGuire's "children and daughter-in-law were crying and visibly upset," Gray tweeted. ------------ Death by firing squad is generally very quick. Death by hanging normally takes 20 minutes but the person is generally paralyzed by a broken neck and becomes unconscious within 30 seconds. My opinion is that society should preach that murder is only acceptable in self defense, in defense of other person such as family or friend, or community such as in time of war. People like to rationalize that the death penalty acts a deterrent to crime. Does it??? And some people can say that he (and others on death row) murdered an innocent, defenseless person, and so who gives a flying fuck. That type of feeling is totally understandable, but what does that feeling accomplish for society. How does that type of thinking advance society? What type of society doesn't try to save a soul? Shouldn't a civilized society work to save all souls, including those that many or most might consider beyond redemption. When I say saving souls, I am not talking about in the sense of heaven or hell or some metaphysical place that is beyond any of our pay grade. I am talking about the dignity of man. I am talking about trying to give someone who many or most might consider worthless some bit of worth; some sense of honor. In what mind set does anyone even consider that death, even a heinous death as was carried out in Ohio, is a punishment. Is there any single person on this planet who is not going to die? So when we die are we supposed to look at that as a punishment. When someone we love dies, are we supposed to look at that as some kind of punishment for them or us? Isn't it rather perverse how our current court system seems to worship death, instead of working to celebrate life. Shouldn't our government work to lift all of our minds up into the light of love, instead of ushering our thoughts into the dark depravity of hate. When our government can rationalize heinous murder so easily, how can it preach against those who think in a similarly depraved manner such as terrorist or yes, even the vile murderers on death row? Shouldn't we expect more from our government? |
Best Buy, financials knock Wall Street off new high Best Buy Co Inc plunged 27 percent to $27.43, easily the worst performer on the benchmark S&P 500, after the No. 1 consumer electronics chain reported a drop in holiday sales and forecast a bigger-than-expected decline in quarterly operating margins. Remember how all the business channels were saying how Best Buy was going to take over the sector after the demise of Circuit City. It didn't happen. :) Is what is happening to Best Buy a good thing or a bad thing. I am not sure. While business channels like to say that it is Walmart and Amazon that is hurting Best Buy I am not totally sure that part of the business is not going to ma & pa type businesses. Electronics, like hardware, is a sector where the little guy has sometimes found success if he is also an expert on certain niche areas of the market. Although Best Buy has tried to be good in the area where the small guy excels--know how & repairs & installation--the little guy may do it better. Right now there is a strong bias against Wall Street Companies and in favor of Main Street Companies and that is a good thing. Is having the brand of a Wall Street company really a good thing right now? There was a time that television and radio drove people toward the Wall Street brands which gave the Wall Street brands a huge advantage in addition to the pricing advantage of Wall Street Companies vs. Main Street Companies. The playing field may be becoming more level. Let us hope that is the case. Let us hope that the problems at Best Buy is not a reflection of growing problems on Main Street because to some degree Best Buy is also a Main Street Company; depending on how you want to look at it. Yahoo Parts Ways With Its No. 2 Executive SAN FRANCISCO — Yahoo’s No. 2 executive, Henrique de Castro, has been fired by his boss, Marissa Mayer, a little more than a year after she stole him away from Google to help her fuck the struggling Internet company, Yahoo, up. Yahoo announced Mr. de Castro’s departure in a terse, two-sentence document filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission after the stock market closed on Wednesday. There was none of the usual corporate boilerplate that typically sugarcoats such departures — no praise for his service from Yahoo’s chief executive, Ms. Mayer, no mention of a sudden interest that Mr. de Castro had taken in spending more time with his family. A Yahoo spokeswoman said the company had no further comment on the matter. ... Note that Yahoo management was already making bad decisions such as shutting geocities down (2009) and destroying its search business (also 2009) with its search deal with Microsoft before Marissa Mayer. I've been kind of hard on Marissa Mayer in some of my opinion pieces because to me it looked like she was hired to continue the destruction of Yahoo (though she certainly didn't make the very bad 2009 decisions.) Lately, even their email service has become unreliable. Anyway, maybe she will get serious to fight the people trying to hurt Yahoo and start trying to create a true turn around. We small websites need a strong Yahoo. We also need Yahoo to take back control of search from the insanity at microsoft. Having to piss in the social water to try to get traffic to our websites is truly fucked up--especially since for most of us who try to keep things real--no bots--it does not work. |
Spotify Removes Cap on Streaming Music for the Web Spotify has launched a completely unlimited free tariff just days before the launch of expected rival Beats Music. Microsoft to extend Windows XP anti-malware updates one year Note that regardless of when Microsoft fucks itself in the ass by not supporting even malware protection for those who use Windows XP, there are other companies that will. It says a lot about how badly run Microsoft is right now to bash one of its more popular products (Windows XP) while promoting crapware like Windows 8. When the harddrive on my Acer died I installed a new harddrive and installed Ubuntu on it. I like it pretty good but it simply would not run the equivalent of some software that I needed and some of the software was buggy. Buggy is a common complaint with some of the software but most of it is free and in truth it is probably not much more buggy than costly software. Regardless I had to get another Windows Computer. God help my soul, this all was going on when they started putting Windows 8 on new computers. So I bought a Dell with Windows 8 on it. I hate this Windows 8 computer. The mouse causes the cursor to jump around and I can't figure how to adjust so as to stop it. The keyboard sucks. The mouse touch pad thing is too sensitive and again I haven't found a way to adjust it to my liking. When writing that all increases the error rate and makes editing a pain in the ass. I feel like when I am editing I am as likely to introduce as many new errors as I take out. I probably need to buy a new harddrive and install Windows 7 on it to be able to boot from my Acer which is a computer I really like. It is starting to get some age on it though. |
J.C. Penney to Close 33 Stores, Cut 2,000 Jobs They are also cutting some salaries and moving some employees back to commission sales. J.C. Penney on Wednesday said the move to close 33 stores from its base of about 1,100 locations will result in annual savings of about $65 million beginning this year. The closings will result in the elimination of about 2,000 positions, and eligible associates who don't remain with the company will receive separation benefits packages. Penney's moves come after rival Macy's Inc. earlier this month said it was laying off about 2,500 employees as part of a plan to cut costs and generate $100 million in annual savings, which helped Macy's issue an upbeat profit outlook for the new fiscal year. Will J.C. Penney and Macy's survive? I suspect they will but they will probably have to move more low end or high end. The demographics of their current market is under too much stress to support their current price structure. Rather than simply closing down stores, they probably should be rebranding part of their real estate into discount stores and maybe even high end stores depending on the real estate. Holding on to a brand can help your business. It can also kill your business. At a certain point you don't want to transform a brand. You want to create a new brand. Obama's National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI) Link that partially explains the idea: National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI) This is not a bad thing. It could be a good thing. But when you consider the government regulations that are killing small business, you have to wonder who will benefit from this. When you consider the degree that the Justice Department has helped giant business put a strangle hold on technology, to keep it away from small business, you have to wonder who will benefit from this. When you look at the cronyism that is part of government, you have to wonder who will benefit from this. The media loves to talk about low interest rates. For ordinary people, interest rates that people have to pay are still high while the interest rates they earn on their savings is low. Obama has done little to nothing to stop the economic game from being rigged against ordinary people so again, you have to wonder who will benefit from this. People love to talk about JOBS. Change the words jobs to slavery. Now I know that is a loaded comparison and it is somewhat unfair, but consider what would give the American people more freedom, a JOB or a way to make a good living by being self-employed. What would better benefit the American people: A system to create new technology for the giant corporations, or to buld complexes where people could go as self-employed individuals to build products with existing technology to sell to small shops and to sell on ebay or similar sites. Instead of building complexes to help the giant multi-nationals with Research and Development--which they don't really need the subsidy--wouldn't that money be better spent by taking existing manufacturing buildings that are empty and turning them into places where people can rent time on equipment (at affordable cost) to create products to sell. |

Her death had been erroneously reported in the days after, and WWE did not give a cause of death. Born Johnnie Mae Young in Oklahoma in 1923, Young began her professional wrestling career in the 1940s and remained active into late last year, making her the only wrestler to believed to have competed in eight different decades. In a statement, WWE called Young the "oldest living squared circle personality." |
America's Dwindling Economic Freedom World economic freedom has reached record levels, according to the 2014 Index of Economic Freedom, released Tuesday by the Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal. But after seven straight years of decline, the U.S. has dropped out of the top 10 most economically free countries Hong Kong continues to dominate the list, followed by Singapore, Australia, Switzerland, New Zealand and Canada. These are the only countries to earn the index's "economically free" designation. Mauritius earned top honors among African countries and Chile excelled in Latin America. Despite the turmoil in the Middle East, several Gulf states, led by Bahrain, earned designation as "mostly free." |

Propaganda Article: NSA implanted software on 100,000 computers: Report In truth it is many more computers than that and they have also implanted software on computers in the United States. They have also harrassed people by experimenting with root kit viruses that can kill the harddrives on computers. I realize so called "experts" say that hackers and the government can't actually physically damage harddrives but in truth they can. People who say otherwise or naive or full shit. The entire point of the article is to rally ignorant people into supporting the immoral behavior of the NSA. "Oh, they are only doing their nasty to military members of the Chinese, the Russians, Drug Cartels, and only the bad guys." The article is total, absolute, insidiously evil bullshit and MSN and the New York Times damn well know it. |

James Cameron will reunite with the duo on-set later this year when production is scheduled to begin. The second and third sequels will hit theaters in December 2017 and December 2018. At least that is the plan. A lot could happen between now and the scheduled release dates. |
Court strikes down net neutrality rules But the ruling did affirm the FCC's authority in principle to regulate broadband Internet service, leaving open the possibility for the commission to rewrite its rules within a new legal framework. FCC Chairman Thomas Wheeler said in a statement Tuesday that the commission "will consider all available options, including those for appeal, to ensure that these networks on which the Internet depends continue to provide a free and open platform for innovation and expression." Verizon, meanwhile, claimed the court's ruling "will not change consumers' ability to access and use the Internet as they do now." Opinion: The truth is that ISP's may already be throttling some sites. They are using software for the elite media to catch "copyright violators" that is already making their crappy internet service even worse. Given how sorry the service is, they could be doing things to block sites or reduce load times for sites and most users couldn't really much tell the difference because their service is already so crappy. The evil court ruling may make it more difficult for the FCC to find out what the hell is going on with different ISP's. It will make it more difficult for those who suspect their ISP's are doing crap, to establish the standing needed to obtain documents they would need to prove they have a case in any attempted lawsuit. Opinion: Just turned FOX off with some crazy woman talking about how the ISP's have the right to charge even more money... blah, blah, bullshit. I say ISP's are already charging too much for their damn half ass crappy service. And how in the hell does FOX figure that with elite media the cable companies have to pay companies like damn sorry FOX and pay other sorry channels they carry but somehow Fox propagandist think that websites should have to pay the ISP's to be carried. How fucking insane does a person have to be to buy into that "just go on fuck me in the ass with a broken bottle" type of propaganda. As a rule I am trying to link to elite media less but this is a good article on the subject. Net neutrality is dead. Bow to Comcast and Verizon, your overlords |
Update: The billionaire creator of Beanie Babies, Ty Warner, will serve two years of probation, including mentoring high school students, following his guilty plea on a tax evasion charge, but no jail time, a federal judge ruled on Tuesday. Prev: Beanie Babies billionaire to be sentenced Ty Warner, the billionaire creator of Beanie Babies, may have to spend up to five years behind bars for evading t*xes The billionaire creator of Beanie Babies steps before a federal judge Tuesday to learn if he'll have to spend up to five years behind bars for t*x evasion on $25 million in income. H. Ty Warner's sentencing will also give him a chance to apologize at length for hiding his millions in Swiss bank accounts. (As part of the on going economic war against the American People, back in 2009 the US Government--controlled by Democrats & Republicans--gained access to Swiss Bank Account Data through an agreement with the Swiss Government.) The 69-year-old apologized and wiped away tears when he pleaded guilty last year. But the judge in Chicago stopped him and said he could explain himself fully at sentencing. Defense attorneys argue for probation, pointing to Warner's unhappy childhood and his charity work. (Unhappy childhood, that excuse is kind of silly.) But prosecutors say Warner should spend some time in prison; they don't recommend how much. A government filing says about Warner's philanthropy: "Charity is not a get-out-jail card." (Translation: He did not give to the Democrats & Republicans favorite charities.) Snap Shot of Ty Warner Dated from 2005 In 1983, he mortgaged a small flat he owned in Hinsdale, another suburb not fare from where he grew up, and founded Ty Incorporated. He hired two workers, Miss Nickels and Patricia Roche, who now heads the UK operation. And soon the Himalayan Cats, as he called his first toys, were selling out in local shops. Warner's genius was to leave out some of the stuffing, to make the animals less stiff and more lifelike. Rivals sneered and jokingly called them 'roadkill.' Then he sold 30,000 at the Atlanta toy fair. By 1992 the Ty catalogue had grown to dozens of animals. But Warner was looking for something else, an appealing toy that children could buy with pocket money, something collectable and less than $5.00. Spot the dog, Squealer the pig, Patti the platypus, Cubbie the bear, Choclate the moose, Pinchers the lobster, Splash the killer whale, Legs the frog and Flash the dolphin: the 'original nine', as some collectors now call them, hit the shops of Chicago in 1994. The Beanie Baby was born.Ty Warner is a generous philanthropist, with donations of $6 million to the Andre Agassi Foundation for underprivileged children in Las Vegas and $3 million for the creation of Ty Warner Park, $8M for the Ty Warner Sea Park in California and the gift of 10000 Beanie Babies for children in Iraq. |

Powers at be Acquit Officers In Murder of California homeless man Kelly Thomas Outside court, Thomas's parents condemned the verdict. "Just horrified," Cathy Thomas said. "He got away with murdering my son. It's just not fair. So I guess it's legal to go out and kill now. He was so innocent. It just isn't fair at all." Ron Thomas said the defense "lied … continuously" about his son's character, such as his drug use. "It's carte blanche for police officers everywhere to beat us, kill us" because the verdict proves "they'll get away with it." Rackauckas told jurors that Ramos was charged with murder because his verbal threat set in motion the chain of events that led to Thomas' death and he did nothing to stop the violence as six officers joined the fight. Cicinelli, who arrived minutes later, used the butt end of his electric stun gun to hit Thomas eight times in the head and face, breaking multiple bones and causing breathing problems that contributed to his death, prosecutors said. He also stunned him several times. The coroner listed the cause of death as brain death caused by asphyxiation from the officers piling on his chest.
