Sometimes the downward spiral we feel we are in begins with just feeling YOGA is one way to start trying to fight the downward spiral. Stretching. Although stretching can be painful and it can lead to reduced pain with other activities. There are poses to help the hamstrings, the back, the shoulders and the hips. Strength: Some YOGA poses require you to support the weight of your own body in ways you never considered much less thought possible. But many are simple that you probably do anyway. Balancing on one leg is called a Tree Pose. Supporting yourself with one arm is called Downward Facing Dog. Muscle Tone: Many Poses improve muscle tone along with strength. Pain Prevention: Stretching and Strength poses improves flexibility and strength. Many of our aches and pains comes from sitting in a car or sitting at our computer. Heck, even if I sit in my ez chair too much, that increases my back pain. YOGA adds variety to our day which helps reduce stress, tightness and spinal compression. Breathing: Even something as ordinary as the way we breathe, something we take for granted, may be leading to our downward spiral. YOGA breathing exercises can have major benefits. And of course there are the benefits we are all think when we think YOGA. Stress Reduction. When we start facing a downward spiral in the way we feel, sometimes that even reaches the point of no longer feeling comfortable with our own body and that hurts self-confidence.
