Where did things go wrong for 60 year old Circuit City that they should now be gone from America's landscape except the 567 empty buildings they leave behind? If the economy had not entered a depression, would the once number 2 electronic retailer Circuit City have been okay?

Mistakes

- dumped experienced employees for new hires where they could pay them less in pay terms but cost them more in hours to train and in mistakes new hires tend to make.

- too quick to expand and not quick enough to close bad locations. Note Wal-mart that isn't shy about locaton jumping.

- Rather than trying out bestbuy bestbuy, circuilt city should have played to the strengths they once enjoyed. Should have kept a look over the shoulder for Wal-mart. Should have separated and defined its stores different and better than competitors.

- Did not properly read consumer trends for cd's and dvd's and did not properly take advantage of the gaming market.
