My Opinion:

Allen Greenspan should be given great credit for the growth in the American economy. To what degree he should be blamed for how the boom bust cycle ended should be largely mute. He was not in place to deal with the unwinding of policies promoted by Congress during his years. He in fact executed their and the President's policies very well when he was in office.

For members of Congress to be playing the blame game when most of them need to have their sorry asses voted the hell out of office is basically a game of futility they insist on playing. They think they can fool the voters. They are wrong.

Members of Congress are collectively to blame for this economic mess and they need to step up to the plate and take responsiblity for their own mistakes. Many of them need to simply resign with a sincere apology to the American people for allowing corrupt lobbyist to have way too much power in writing bad laws. They do not need to convolute this economic disaster so as to rationalize allowing these lobbyist to write even more bad, insane laws.

While Congress plays their stupid games, states are hurting. States need to respond. States need to call a Constitutional Convention. It is time States take control of the Federal Reserve System and alter it to service State Budgets, State Banks, and State Economies. It is time the American Economy is Defederalized. It is time the Federal Government loses a large part of its power. It is time they are no longer allowed to have the power of the purse. The Federal Government and the giant banks they have knighted should no longer be allowed to have a strangle hold on the American Economy!!!

All currency should backed by assets. No currency should be based, or backed, by a system of indebtedness. Going from a gold backed currency to a debt backed currency was and is beyond insane. I am not saying that we should or even can return to a gold standard. But currency creation should be based in asset creation; not debt creation.
