Delphi retirees in pension battle

In a letter on behalf of the Delphi Salaried Retiree Association, the congressional representatives are asking Geithner to direct the Automotive Task Force to make public all documents concerning a proposal to default the retirees’ pensions to the federal Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. (PBGC).

They expressed concern over the “inequitable decision” to default the white collar retirees’ pension plan to the PBGC, while at the same time the pension obligations of hourly workers are being picked up by General Motors, Delphi’s former parent.

The bipartisan group cited estimates that the 15,000 Delphi salaried employees could lose as much as 70 percent of their pension payments if they are assigned to the PBGC.

When I was reading this, the thought went through my head is that the government isn't really trying to save the auto industry but rather is simply trying to stage the impact of the demise of the industry through destructive stages so as to reduce the likely hood of protest marches like America has never seen. Keep the people divided and conquered so as to prevent the people from uniting against a common enemy: bad economic policies set by the Republicrats / Demolicans for the last 40 years and which continue.

The number of dealerships being closed by the government, and with some of the best dealerships among the number to be closed, had already raised questions in my mind what the government is really doing.
