ATHFEST
JUNE 25 - 28 / 2009

It is with immense emotion that we sadly report the Georgia Theatre burned down Friday morning, June 19. There are a lot more questions than answers right now and we will do our best to keep the public informed as we learn more.
We appreciate all of the support that the great folks of Athens have provided and the additional messages received from wonderful patrons from around the world.
THANK YOU!!!
The Georgia Theatre Staff

GEORGIA THEATRE UPDATE: Bands slated to play the Georgia Theatre during AthFest will perform at the Morton Theatre - same times, same lineup. Athens suffered a tremendous loss in the devastating fire at the Georgia Theatre early on Fri., June 19. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported. Our thoughts are with owner Wilmot Greene, the staff, and fans.
_______
Athfest has over 160 bands and solo artist lined up. For the list of acts and the Athens' Venues where they will be playing:

Athens Georgia is a strong part of the South's music scene from country to punk to rock. Although the Georgia Theatre has in the past and hopefully will be in the future an important venue for Athens' Music, Athfest and Athens Music will continue in a great variety of venues.
If you are going to be in the area, be sure to checkout ATHFEST. Besides music, ATHFEST will also include an open air Art Festival with more than 50 artist in 40 booths. They will exhibit from the classical to the funky. (Me, I like Funky.) Exhibited work includes ceramics, drawings and watercolor, folk art, furniture, glasswork, handmade instruments, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, prints, stoneware, woodwork, or sculpture.
